Enjoyable enough

The lovely Laurie Pritchard and her young brother, Jason, are out for a walk on a Sunday morning and hear a shot in the distance. Jason believes that someone is hunting and little else is thought of the incident.

When they get back to the house, their mother is waiting for them as they get ready for church. A young man, Lucas, comes riding up with a covered buggy an offers it to the family since it may rain on the way to church. Lucas is a man that has been after Laurie to marry him. He keeps asking her to be her bride but she keeps refusing.

Laurie does not want to go to church and stays at the house. She enters the barn only to find the reason for the earlier gunshot. There is a man, Shad Hudson, that has been shot. Shad is a man on the run with the law chasing. They had wounded Shad and he has made it to the barn. Shad now set into Laurie to show her there is more men in the world that what surrounds her property. And the young Laurie is falling for the slick words.

The ending of the show was quick and predictable but within the half-hour time limit there was no other way to bring the show to a conclusion. An enjoyable enough story that just seemed too quick.

"You've Had Quite A Morning"

Martha Hyer and Robert Culp star in this Zane Grey Theater story of a young farm girl looking for a little excitement in her humdrum life and the young outlaw being pursued by a posse who gives it to her.

It's just another Sunday morning for Hyer and her mother Fiona Hale and her little brother Kevin Jones getting ready for church. But her persistent beau Richard Garland is called away for posse duty little realizing that Culp whom they are pursuing has taken refuge in the barn on Hyer's farm.

Culp spins quite a yarn to get her help and Hyer is ready to give it to him. But he reveals his true character soon enough.

Like that other Four Star anthology series Four Star Playhouse, the Zane Grey Theater was a good training ground for people behind the camera as well. Big screen director Tom Gries was at the helm of this episode.

An interesting story, fans of the stars will like it.
