Edith saves the marriage ...again.

Archie would go through every dollar he has eventually if Edith didn't get tough. Though, give Archie credit for seeing the light one way or another. The singing of Mike & especially Gloria was great.

Let me first disagree with the small summary on the main page for this episode, as it reads that Archie buys his family "expensive" gifts, when in fact, they were actually cheap gifts. As you probably know by now, he buys these for the family because he just won a bet on a horse. Archie admits they only cost $3.00, and I don't think that amount was worth all that much in late 1973 either. Even though Archie once lost a car in a game of poker 20 years ago, and he once promised Edith he would never gamble again, I think she was out of line to smack him, and it got slightly annoying every time she called gambling a "sickness". There's nothing with a small wager every now and then, right Edith? Calm down. There's an enjoyable scene in the bar with Barney(Allan Melvin)and Kelsey(Bob Hastings), where Archie complains that Edith found out about another bet, and Barney mocks him for keeping secrets from her. When Archie finally goes home, he and Edith have a nice talk about gambling, and they apologize to each other. Not that great of an ending, but still a good episode anyway.
