Darfur (#12.15)

Warning: Spoilers
We get to see Carter again! He was shown at the end of the past episode, but half of this episode was dedicated to his work in Africa. I wasn't really expecting to see him again as I thought he left the show for good. So it was especially exciting and at the same time kind of weird. The story was pretty good, it seems that it is not completely over. Also now that Carter is not a regular anymore, it seems more likely for him to get killed in Africa.

Pratt's story was pretty good as well. Only why would he tell anything to Neela, this was his mistake. Funny how she is quick to judge him even though her actions almost directly did cost the boy his life.

And Victor's story seems to still be in a lot of trouble.

The back and forth, between Chicago and Darfur, is poorly done. This should have been a Carter "bottle" episode and focused completely on Darfur. The whole thing felt half baked, and the Chicago portion unnecessary.

The Darfur cast really is excellent in their own right, between Eamon Walker, Mary McCormack and Noah Wyle, you have the makings of an excellent series. Maybe throw in Thandie Newton, some guest spots of the ER cast and you have an ER spin-off.

The Chicago portion is a 6/10, the Darfur a 8/10, call it a 7.

To Darfur or not to Darfur

Interesting enough but this episode seemed thrown together. Great effort setting up the Darfur shooting but Dr. Carters heroics were over the top unrealistic and messy. He chases after a rape victims disgraced husband who went out into dangerous territory. Got a gun put to his head then gets shot at by militants and were lucky not to be discovered. Carter here seemed completely unconcerned with his own life as if his contributions in building a new hospital and an ER doctor are nothing...I didn't dig this episode. Carter should value his own life and loved ones much more. Chicago was a little convoluted as well..
