Not Bad for the Comedy Network
bobbymalonetherobot7 February 2007
The host is pretty funny and has a bad attitude with the contestants and his co-host sitara. She is just the needed good-looking girl element to the show. It's pretty mindless entertainment but it's not a terrible way to pass half an hour. Most people I know don't like it but I watch it sometimes and the host gets in a good one liner sometimes and the trivia can be interesting sometimes. Sad to say it is one of the only things on the comedy network I can stand to watch at all and still it is only a o.k. show to watch. Compared to the other shows on that channel like Punched Up and Keys to the VIP and my personal pick for worst t.v. show of all time Girls Will Be Girls it is great but still just an average show. If it stays on t.v. I hope they keep the host because he is easy the best part of this show.

Jeopardy with an edge.

"YOU BET YOUR ASS" is a hip trivia based game show that challenges your recall but has fun doing it. It has echoes of WIN BEN STEIN'S MONEY with its dead pan but hilarious male host, its sexy female co-host, and its double entrende loaded categories. I watched several episodes before I noticed Sitara was handing out Canadian dollars (or as the Americans call it, Monopoly Money). I guess the small money pay outs should have tipped me off that it was a Canadian series as they are notorious for being frugal to the extreme. However, I was equally impressed as this is the first wholly Canadian game show since DEFINITION that I am hooked on. "You Bet Your Ass" has "ass" based sub categories like "Your Ass On the Line" and, although it does have the odd geography or science question, the questions are largely Pop Culture based which should give it a larger following. I wish the best for this breath of fresh air game show that, although the title sounds insulting, does not insult your intelligence.

Can you have a show where the grand prize is less than 5 grand? you bet your ass!
The_Light_Triton14 July 2009
The Comedy network reigns supreme as one of the best mindless, entertaining and dirty television networks of all time. but lets talk about mindless. You bet your ass is a show that defies mindless. it's fun to watch and play along to, and it also picks your brain in pop culture.

What else can i say? Stewart Francis, the host? he's pretty funny. How about Sitara? What a honey she is! every show she comes up with a new T-shirt with a funny sentence on the front, and is always wearing a short skirt. You can't do much better than that on a small budget. maybe a bikini top, but then again, shows like dog eat dog didn't last too long. sorry Brooke burns!

There are 4 rounds in you bet your ass, titled "Piece of Ass, Dirty dozen, Up your ass, and Ass on the line. in the first round, contestants start with 1000 points each, and they get categories in which they can ask for one or 2 questions (one question means single, 2 means doubling down.) the first question is really easy, the second one is tougher, therefore tripping up contestants who are doubling down. and if they get the question wrong, they lose the points wagered. Singles lose 100 points, doubling downs lose 200. there's also a wild card, which allows contestants to steal 500 points. the Dirty dozen round is where 12 questions are asked to contestants randomly. the questions are all about the answers before. perhaps the first question's answer would be orange, and the question would be "what company makes orange crush?" and so on. the 3rd round is like the 1st, only the point values are doubled and there's no wild card. in the final round, there are 4 categories with 3 questions in each. the contestant with the least points gets to pick the first category, and then he or she must wager points in 3 questions. at the end of this round, the person with the most points gets $500.

then comes the end of the game. The winner gets a chance at $2,000. if he or she chooses single, he or she gets a chance at 1,000, or if he or she doubles down, 2,000. then they get their category, and they have to get the answer to get the cash.

Bottom line, i like this show. it's time well wasted, just like the channel it's on.

Fun, feels local

I watch it on Prime but I liked it back in the day. I like that it's simple and fun to watch late at night when i'm tired. I like Stewart's style, Sitara is hot and I really don't think she's taking herself seriously. It Feels very Canadian and I would have liked to see more episodes.

Fun!
gabrielkoot21 July 2018
I thought this Canadian comedy game show was a lot of fun. Was it a good game show? Not really. It had easy questions and the host acted like he didn't really want to be there (he probably didn't). The contestants were usually kind of boring and sometimes even a little confused and the grand prize was something paltry like two thousand dollars or something and nobody ever even got that much... Stewart Francis was the host, he is a Canadian stand-up comic who is very funny and very well known. He would tell one-liner jokes and riff with the guests and they would never really get it which would lead to him giving more comments. His cohost is the girl from Little Mosque, who is attractive but not very funny and for some reason she's acting like an airhead high school girl in this. Anyway this show was kind of odd and definitely entertaining whether you liked it or not, I did.

Entertainingly Bad

You Bet Your Ass is not a good show. But I'll still watch it on occasion. Why? Because it's fun to laugh at. Stewart Francis is a fun host to watch (because he sucks so bad), and Sitara Hewitt is obviously there to attract the young male demographic, and nothing else. It's quite hilarious watching yet another Francis joke fall flat, then Sitara do her dumb teen impression and announce a break, or the end of a round.

The game itself is stupid. The top prize is CAD 2500 and the questions are so easy that anyone who knows the slightest thing about pop culture should be able to answer most if not all of them. All this adds to the cheese factor of the show, virtually the only thing making it watchable.

Letter Grade: F (a cure for boredom as well, so watch it!)
