A few months ago, I dreamed a little dream of Jay-z getting his own network, and now, rumor has it, this dream is coming true. Sort of. Although Hova will not be running an entire television network, he does have a development deal with Adult Swim. Adult Swim has worked with rappers before (Danger Mouse and Mf Doom's 2006 LP featured Meatwad and Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force), but never in a television capacity. Cartoon Network, however, Adult Swim's more appropriate and sober sibling has been there and done that. Andre 3000's Class of 3000 ran for two seasons starting in 2006. Despite Jay-z's many, many multi-media ventures, TV just hasn't been something he's been able to conquer — although a few years ago he and Diddy did try to buy Comcast G4. Maybe starting small with just a show, rather than a network, will be [...]...

T.I. is still deciding on the final track list for his upcoming album King Uncaged — a rather daunting process, considering he recorded some 80 songs (including a track featuring Lady Gaga) for the project. But that doesn't mean he's not working on other endeavors — like, for example, a cartoon.
In an interview last week on Sirius' Shade 45, Tip confirmed that he's developing an animated series called "Lil Homies." He'll serve as a producer on the show, and he's also considering lending his vocal talents to the project.
"I'm actually working on a TV show right now as a producer," he told Shade 45's Angela Yee. "[It's] a cartoon ... called 'Lil Homies.' I may do, like, voice over [work] ... like a narrator."
T.I. said that "Homies" still is without a network,...

T-Pain has a cartoon on the way called "Freaknik: The Musical," but it's probably not for kids. The show, airing March 7 on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, will be an hour-long extravaganza detailing a group's quest to "successfully resurrect the spirit of Freaknik ... the biggest spring-break party known to man."
On Wednesday morning (February 24), T-Pain tweeted a trailer including castmembers like Rick Ross and Snoop Dogg discussing the show and remembering their experiences at the original Freaknik.
"Back in the '90s, Freaknik was Atlanta's version of the ultimate block party. It was Mardi Gras meets spring break, at your crazy cousin's bachelor party, and anything could happen," T-Pain said in a statement last month. "A decade later, I'm bringing it back for people like me, who didn't...

With his penchant for top hats, we suppose this was inevitable: T-Pain is getting his own animated special.
On March 7, Cartoon Network's Adult Swim will premiere "Freaknik: The Musical," an hour-long extravaganza detailing a group of kids' quest to "successfully resurrect the spirit of Freaknik ... the biggest spring-break party known to man."
According to a Cartoon Network press release, T-Pain — who is also listed as an executive producer on the show — will voice "a party ghost" (no word on whether he'll use Auto-Tune). Other musicians lending their voices to "Freaknik" include Lil Wayne, Big Boi, Rick Ross, Kelis, Snoop Dogg, George Clinton and Bootsy Collins. Comedians Andy Samberg and Bill Hader also appear.

NEW YORK -- Cartoon Network is getting into the live-action business with an original movie while remaining strong in animation with a fall premiere date for the Andre Benjamin series Class of 3000 and 12 animated features in the next year. Reanimated will be part live action, part animation, produced in Los Angeles with production beginning this spring. Casting has yet to be announced, but the project is from former Cartoon Network writers Adam Pava and Tim McKeon. It involves a 12-year-old boy who needs an emergency brain transplant after an accident at an amusement park; he receives the brain of a dead cartoonist, which gives the kid the ability to see cartoon characters in real life. "We're not going to do live action like everyone else," said Michael Ouweleen, senior vp network creative. "That's not our way."...
