Not a very merry Christmas

Mike and Gloria's departure from the series was fairly recent to this episode. Yet, the episode plays as if a more significant amount of time had passed. Having Mike and Gloria on the verge of separation created a very dramatic and emotional situation. However, one may question what the point of this really was. The Stivic characters had already been written out of the show. Why have them make a temporary return, just to reveal that they're about to divorce? Perhaps, the show's ratings were declining at this point. Something strong might have been needed to revamp people's interest in the show. The episode is well acted, but ends without a clear resolution. In any case, Archie was right about one thing. Mike shouldn't have shaved off his moustache.

I wasn't too crazy about the storyline, but that's okay. The main thing I was happy about was seeing the OG ensemble together again.

Disappointing reunion with Mike and Gloria

Archie, Edith and Stephanie arrive at Mike and Gloria's California home, but soon find out Mike and Gloria have separated.

It good to see Mike and Gloria again but the story is badly written and needlessly padded out to hour long length. Plus it is set at Christmas time and it's not a very merry episode, though not as bad as "Edith's Crisis Of Faith". We find out that Gloria is having an affair with another man which causes the split. Mike and Gloria's arguments were funny in the early days but now it's seems mean spirited and sad. Perhaps the worst moment is when after finding out about Gloria's infidelity, Archie tells Mike he's too good for her! Archie would NEVER say that about his little girl to Meathead.
