A new 'Post'
JordanThomasHall9 July 2020
Martin's secretary is ill and Patty comes to the newspaper office asking for an advance on her allowance. Martin gives his daughter the opportunity to work as his secretary after school each day. She initially declines until seeing a guy she finds attractive, George Reynolds (singer Bobby Vinton), reporting to the office to start a job. George has been hired by his uncle, Publisher Mr. Smathers (Ralph Bell) as an "executive assistant" to take some pressure off a stressed Martin. Martin overhears the end of their conversation to misinterpret that they are trying to get rid of him and be replaced by George. Patty is unaware of the situation or who George is as she asks him to dinner at their house. Martin and Natalie privately tell Patty that George is being groomed to take Martin's job. Martin arranges to take the editor position at the Oklahoma City Post. This promises to create a difficult situation, as he actually begins working both posts.
