Emmy winner Sarah Jessica Parker is speaking out for the first time about the difficult circumstances surrounding her casting in "Lovelace." She told "Access Hollywood" that replacing Demi Moore as Gloria Steinem in the Linda Lovelace biopic was a "daunting task" because she had so little time to prepare for the role of the feminist icon.
"I obviously conveyed to the filmmakers that I was aware and I was sorry for the reasons that they had to reach out to me," the "Sex and the City" star explained. "Also, of course, the somewhat daunting task of playing somebody with very little time [to prepare] who was obviously such an important person in the women's movement, but also played such a pivotal role in Linda's life.

We're told that paparazzi photos from the set of "Lovelace" show the recently-cast Sarah Jessica Parker in the role of women's lib leader Gloria Steinem. The pictures are surprising considering the woman in the photo looks nothing like Sarah Jessica Parker.
The photo from the set shows a 70s-ified Parker, large hair and all. The blonde hair looks oddly like a wig, and the actress' eyes look pulled back. It would have taken a moment to peg the person in the picture as Parker, if it had not been advertised as such.

Parker replaced Demi Moore in the Linda Lovelace biopic shortly after the actress dropped out of the film due to personal issues related to a medical emergency.
The real-life Steinem wrote an article for Ms. Magazine in 1980 titled "The Real Linda Lovelace" that examined the life of the famous porn star.

I’m not one to report on celebrity gossip, so I’m not going to get too much into what’s been going on with Demi Moore lately, but suffice to say, the lady is having some issues that have caused her to drop out of the Linda Lovelace biopic Lovelace. She was set to play Gloria Steinem, who was a high profile feminist writer and political leader of the women’s lib movement in the 70s. Over the course of her career Steinem spoke out pretty regularly against the porn business, and in 1980 she wrote a piece for “Ms. Magazine” titled ‘The Real Linda Lovelace’ that acts as a framing device for Lovelace’s storytelling; so this should be a small but important role that’s going to require an experienced actress. And, according to Inside Movies, they’ve already found one (which is a good thing, because filming for the character starts Monday). Apparently the...

It was announced Tuesday (Jan. 3) that Demi Moore will cameo in "Lovelace," the biopic about porn star Linda Lovelace, as Gloria Steinem (pictured above, left, in 1974). And that has people wondering who Gloria Steinem is, so Zap2it is here to help.
Steinem is a famous feminist activist, journalist and best-selling author. According to her official site, she helped found the New Yorker in 1968 and Ms. magazine in 1972. She was a featured writer for both and served as the editor for Ms. for 15 years. Her books include "Revolution from Within: A Book of Self-Esteem," "Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions," "Moving Beyond Words" and "Marilyn: Norma Jean."
In addition, Steinem helped found the Women's Action Alliance, which is a national center that specialized in nonsexist, multiracial children's education, and the National Women's Political Caucus, which works to get pro-equality women elected and appointed to political offices at both national and state levels.

While there are some feminists who will argue that pornography can be empowering, Gloria Steinem isn't one of them. The pioneering women's rights activist was an important footnote in the life and saga of "Deep Throat" actress Linda Lovelace, and in the upcoming biopic, she'll make a brief appearance with a big star filling her shoes. Variety reports that Demi Moore -- experiencing a renaissance of sorts thanks to roles in "Another Happy Day" and "Margin Call" -- will play Steinem in a cameo role in "Lovelace." The founder of Ms. Magazine was a source of support and somewhat of a voice for Lovelace. Steinem penned the article "The Real Linda Lovelace" which accused Lovelace's husband, Chuck Traynor, of perpetuating the story that the porn actress "loved to be sexually used and humiliated." Steinem also wrote the introduction to Lovelace's memoir "Out Of Bondage," and also appeared at...

Demi Moore, Adam Brody and Eric Roberts are the latest in a long line of Hollywood actors to join the cast of "Lovelace", a biopic about the late '70s porn star Linda Lovelace (who became infamous after starring in the hit 1972 pornographic film "Deep Throat") that stars Amanda Seyfried in the title role. According to Variety, Moore will reportedly cameo as feminist icon Gloria Steinem, who in the early 1970s co-founded Ms. magazine and later ran a 1980 expose entitled "The Real Linda Lovelace" in its pages. With this news coming a couple of weeks after four actors jumped on board, one might get the impression that Lovelace is getting its casting done in bunches. According to Variety, the porn biopic has added Demi Moore, Adam Brody, and Eric Roberts, all of whom are portraying real-life people. The only female of the bunch will have what’s described as a cameo, appearing in the role of feminist Gloria Steinem. Brody, meanwhile, is playing Deep Throat actor Harry Reems (don’t Google image search him), while Roberts has the part of “Nat Laurendi, the lie detector expert who administered a polygraph test to Linda [Lovelace] at the request of” the publisher of her autobiography, Ordeal.
The casting of Roberts and Moore is somewhat inter-connected, since Steinem was, along with other members of Women Against Pornography, present for a press conference surrounding Ordeal. This was (obviously) after publishing an article entitled “The Real Linda Lovelace,...
