The best part is the real life bear showing up at the apartment I'm quite sure the Studio audience freaked out. Same actor who plays Laverne's cousin also plays her boyfriend in the sixth season California episodes as a different character.

It's so sad seeing a beautiful wild grizzly bear forced to perform for a sitcom. It makes me glad we're much more aware of animal rights and treatment than we were back then. If this were done on a sitcom today, there would be a viewer uproar. As for the episode, it's another mediocre one. In fact the whole season 5 is bizarre and absurd. From the "Shotgun Wedding" opener, "We're in the Army Now, "Moosejaw Express", "Survival Test" and now this one, it just gets worse and worse. I'm hoping things get better when they get to California.
