I discovered this series as the result of searching for film work by Ruth Wilson. She's not in this episode, we'll see her in the next.
Normally, I prefer not to watch comedies. However, I must admit that I laughed several times during this episode. Some of the scenes were so absurd, one can't help but laugh.
Here's the thing: I REALLY hate the Joyce Hazledine character. Or any other wimpish characters for that matter. IMHO, people like Joyce Hazledine have had it FAR too easy their whole lives.
Someone tells you to push a RED button and you just robotically do it? It's a wonder she can put on her shoes in the morning. I believe the series would have even been funnier if Joyce wasn't such a pushover. THEN you have the opportunity to create laughter out of irony.
For example, suppose Joyce adamantly refused to press the button. But then the car went over a bump and she wound up pressing it anyway. That would have been even funnier.
So I REAAAALY don't like that Joyce character, her childish fears limit the potential for farcical occurrences. I'm betting that's why next episode they're gonna bring on Ruth Wilson.
