Driving flat out to escape from Tom, Rob and Jodi are forced to abandon their vehicle and flee into the scrub. As they scramble for safety, Tom shoots Rob, and only Jodi's courage, common sense, and bush craft may see them survive the daylight risk. Meanwhile, Patrick has turned up at the boys' cottage with a surprise "present" for Dave: a dozen "liberated" Boer goats. There's no way Harry will allow goats to roam Killarney so, despite Patrick's reservations, Dave approaches Drovers to see if they'll help, while he searches for a more permanent solution. Elsewhere in the pub, Meg and Terry are on a dinner date secretly set up by Jodi, re-discovering the pleasures-and perils-of their still vivid mutual attraction. This tense dinner date ultimately leads to a night of renewed romance, and the next morning Meg finally pops the question, receiving a yes from Terry. Recovering from the ordeal of getting Rob to Drovers alive, hiding him in the shearing shed, being threatened together with Kate at gun point, with help from Stevie overpowering Tom, barely, and saying a poignant goodbye to Rob, most likely forever since he will have a new identity in witness protection even after the trials, Jodi is happy to receive some good news that Meg and Terry are finally getting married.
