In the original script of "Hunka Hunka", Stitch intentionally sets off the fire alarm to spray water on everyone at the dance. Concerned that this might influence young children to also intentionally set off fire alarms, Disney had the script changed so that Gantu is pushed into the fire alarm box, accidentally setting off the sprinklers.
Experiment 323's name "Hunkahunka" is not Hawaiian word, but rather a reference to a line in Elvis Presley's song "Burning Love" - seemingly appropriate for an Experiment that creates infatuation in others. Presley's music is a continuous theme throughout the "Lilo & Stitch" films and series.
The writer of this episode, Chad F. Rogers, was the only member of the series writing staff to also have worked on the original Lilo & Stitch (2002) feature film.
