Plot; When a top secret military jet suddenly vanishes, Matt Trakker and the men and women of M.A.S.K. are dispatched to find out who's responsible.

Okay, so M.A.S.K. was the last toy line/cartoon I was into before I shifted my focus to girls. Thankfully as an adult I've discovered that you don't have to pick one or the other. Score! I've been adding pieces to my M.A.S.K. collection of late (Thunderhawk, Firefly), and now I'm revisiting the 'toon for the first time in 30 years. The toys hold up quite well. A Kenner product, the focus was obviously on the nifty transforming vehicles and not the rather small and nondescript figures, but overall they've proved to be an excellent addition to my growing vintage toy collection. The 'toon on the other hand...

Stock characters, bad voice acting and dull plots equal 22 minutes of clock watching.

  • This series has possibly the worst acronyms of all-time. M.A.S.K. (the good guys) stands for Mobile Armored Strike Kommand. See a problem there? Heck, I went to public school and even I can't swallow that one. The bad guys are called V.E.N.O.M. (Vicious Evil Network of Mayhem). I'm... I'm not even gonna touch that one. This is one of those cartoons where you can tell the who the head good guy is because he's blonde and bland and who the head bad guy is because he's an old white guy with a mustache. In 80s 'toons; Blonde = good guy, old, white, mustache = bad guy.
