Concluding 2nd part of Mystery Mile
coltras3518 April 2022
Part 2 concludes the story of Campion helping the threatened Judge Lobbett to disappear for his own safety, thus giving himself a chance to expose master criminal "Mr. Simister." The last part rounds things up nicely, has some neat twists, though I kind of guessed who Mr Simister was as there weren't many suspects, however that could've been a red herring in itself. There's more things happening in this part, kidnapping, some rescuing and some little subterfuge on Campion's part. It's a nice little mystery, well made and it's nice to understand what actors are saying; unlike in modern TV/film productions, the diction here is splendid.

Mystery Mile: Part 2

Judge Lobbett had gone missing but it could all just be subterfuge by Campion. Take the Judge to a better hiding place.

This means the search for Judge Lobbett in the East Anglian countryside is a smokescreen.

Campion needs to discover the notorious Simister. It seems a children's story holds an important clue.

This was a largely enjoyable mystery, it moved well and wraps up other threads to the story as well.

Warning: Spoilers
Final entry shows how tired the whole enterprise had become. While I applaud the production designers on finding suitable era cars, trains and buildings, the plot to this was preposterous (especially that two marriages would result from a long weekend in the hideaway country estate.) Davison was a pleasant Campion but ill-served by the story lines (and Lugg became quickly tiresome.)
