Highly effective episode treads familiar Bigfoot territory with the expected style and spookiness. Is there a swamp monster of Honey Island located in Louisiana that has reportedly been seen by locals and tourists for many years? Possibly, since a local survivalist demonstrates in vivid approach just what it would take for a creature of its believed size and weight to survive in the hostile swamp environment. It would have to be on constant vigilance, being on the hunt for food, and avoiding any potential enemies, which is pointed out are likely few and far between, unless of course you factor humans in the equation...

In Search Of... "The Swamp Monster" (1978)
The Honey Island Swamp in Louisiana is where we travel to in this episode, which takes a look at its legendary monster, a Bigfoot type creature that stalks the swamp land. This episode takes a look at the mythical creature as well as what little evidence that has been left behind as well as several locals who saw the monster. I'm a die-hard fan of anything related to Bigfoot, the Yeti or any other word you want to use. This was certainly an entertaining episode and especially the interviews with the locals who discuss what they saw. We hear from several people who talk about how deep the swamps is and why it's not hard to believe that something could be living there. If you're a fan of the series or the subject then you're bound to have fun with this. There's a nice re-enactment as well but the interviews are what makes it work.

To this day most people don't know of the monster that supposedly lives in Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp a forest primevil not too far away from the glorious Superdome. This episode opens with an eerie story about a guide in the swamp that was attacked when the monster struck his boat and also includes the horrifying expierence of a couple who had the most terrifying night of their lives as the monster lurked near their camp and according to this episode this monster is NOT gentle and its very aggressive. There has been little heard about the monster since this episode aired. There was a segment of Mysteries of the Unknown recently that showed an old picture of what was reported to be the monster but may have just been a hunter in camoflauge gear.

Well it's worth watching! Like the intro of a short way from New Orleans there is Swamp with the legend Swamp Monster. There is interviews with witnesses. One a hunter about how quick the creature is. Camper's who got scared. Descriptions and drawing of the creature or creatures. Interview of of experts, for and against the Swamp monster's existence. The militarily survivalist explains how to survive in a swamp, and what the creature would be like. The best part of The Swamp Monster is the music, narration, and scary footage of the swamp. Worth watching. Much like the Big Foot episode. 6 out of 10 stars.
