In Search of King Solomon's Mines is a history, archaeology and biblical episode. History, archaeology and the bible collide. Fascinating history lesson about King Solomon's time. The archaeology is discussed by experts, and digs. The biblical account is discussed. We understand Solomon's wealth, but can we find the legendary mind. Great film footage of the Mideast. Great interviews which are intertwined with the historical, and biblical narratives. Leonard Nimoy narration glides and creates ambiance intrigue and logic! Six out of 10.

Both historical and biblical based episode looks at the truth behind the legend of King Solomon, who was reputed to have a mine near Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. That Solomon did trade with the Phoenicians doesn't seem to be in doubt, as it was naval trade that made him so rich and powerful, though historians and scholars debate to what extent this is true. The King had a successful reign, but after his death things seemed to fade away, as his successors struggled to maintain his legacy. Also the subject of popular books and films, this examination of these times is interesting, if not as compelling as others.

In Search Of... "King Solomon's Mines" (1981)
Religion and history collide in this entertaining episode that takes a look at the mythical King Solomon's Mines. Depending on your views you will either see this episode as the truth or some sort of fable but either one this is a pretty good episode. There's much debate over the actual wealth of Solomon but I thought the episode did a good job at taking a look at the story and how much of it was true. If you're a fan of the show then you will certainly enjoy this episode, which is slightly better than most of the religious ones.
Episode: B+
