Fader has released Fader & Friends Vol. 1, a real star-studded covers compilation benefitting charities fighting for transgender rights.
There’s a whole lot in these 44 tracks, but here are just a few notable highlights: CoSign alums Wednesday recorded their rendition of Elliott Smith’s “Christian Brothers,” Rostam covered Lucinda Williams’ “Change the Locks,” Ratboys did The Beatles’ “I Wanna Hold Your Hand,” and NNAMDÏ did The Beach Boys’ “Wouldn’t It Be Nice.”
While most of the performers on the compilation — including Caroline Rose and Joanna Stenberg, who covered each other — are relative newcomers, the crop of songs constitute a vast timeline. There are covers of Big Thief, Perfume Genius, and Ethel Cain mixed together with songs by Stevie Wonder, Abba, Tina Turner, and Selena. There’s even an old English folk song (courtesy of Helena Deland).

TollywoodThe script is reportedly that of a political thriller set in the backdrop of Rayalaseema.Digital NativeDigital NativeNoted writer M Ratnam is known for penning the dialogues for films such as Vikramarkudu, Yamadonga, Legend, Sarrainodu and so on. Having worked with top directors such as SS Rajamouli and Boyapati Srinu, Ratnam is now preparing a script with N Balakrishna in mind. Sources in the know say that the script is that of a political thriller set in the backdrop of Rayalaseema. What makes it interesting is that it is all about faction politics, which the writer feels may interest the star. However, Balayya is currently busy with the Ntr biopic and is yet to allot time for M Ratnam to hear out the story. The biopic, which is Balayya’s ambitious project, is all set to roll out soon. Initially, director Teja was in charge of wielding the megaphone but following creative differences with the lead star he was later replaced by director Krish. Incidentally, Balayya will not only be playing his late father, actor and politician Nt Rama Rao, in the biopic but will also be co-producing it along with Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Induri. The biopic is being bankrolled jointly by N Balakrishna, Sai Korraputi and Vishnu Induri. Reports indicate that Balakrishna will be concentrating on the biopic for the next few months, with its release scheduled for Sankranthi next year. After this movie is wrapped up, he will be moving on to the Vv Vinayak directorial. The director is busy preparing the script for this film right now. With two back to back films on hands for Balayya, writer M Ratnam will have to wait for a few more months to get a nod from the star. It may be mentioned here that there are reports that the writer is keen on making his directorial debut with the Balayya starrer. To get clarity on this, we need to wait for some more time. TollywoodThe director is also scouting for another hero to play the villain.Digital NativeDigital NativeHaving worked on the magnum opus Baahubali for well over five years, director SS Rajamouli churned out two blockbusters Baahubali: the Beginning and Baahubali: the Conclusion. With both these films turning out to be mega grosser, the director is now all set to move over to his next. Quite a few days ago it was announced that Ram Charan Teja and Jr Ntr would be playing the lead role in this multi-starrer and groundwork for it has begun already. The film will be penned by SS Rajamouli’s dad and noted writer K V Vijayendra Prasad who was instrumental in conceiving Baahubali and the characters in it. While the pre-production has begun already and the two lead stars have been picked up, we hear that the director is scouting for another hero to play the villain. Apparently, this is a meaty and high-performance oriented role and SS Rajamouli wants to rope in a well-known hero for it. The selection process is through and we can expect the director to make an announcement soon. SS Rajamouli, an acclaimed filmmaker, made his debut with the 2001 release Student No.1 and is one of the highly successful directors in the Indian film industry. Apart from Baahubali, which is one of the biggest hits in his career, he has films like Simhadri, Vikramarkudu, Yamadonga, high fantasy works such as Magadheera, Eega and Maryada Ramanna to his credit. It may be mentioned here that Baahubali turned out to be so popular that it was released in various international languages such as German, Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese etc. With the news that the ace director has roped in Jr Ntr and Ram Charan for his next and there would be more additions to the star cast, fans just can’t want to know more about it.

I expected to be impressed by the promo for Prabhu Deva's upcoming Rowdy Rathore, but not this impressed! Rowdy Rathore is the Bollywood remake of S.S. Rajamouli's (Magadheera, Yamadonga) Vikramarkudu, which was original a hit in the Telugu film industry that starred personal favorite Ravi Teja in the lead role. Two years ago Vikramarkudu was remade in Tamil as Siruthai, starring Karthi and did well, but nowhere near the Telugu numbers. After the success of the film in two other languages and considering the huge resurgence in old-school masala films in Bollywood exemplified by Salman Khan's recent successes, it was inevitable that Vikramarkudu would come to Bollywood, and it looks fucking sharp!Rowdy Rathore has a wonderful pedigree behind it, with numerous extremely talented filmmakers and...

S.S. Rajamouli is one of the most lauded directors in the Telugu language film Industry, and there has been much anticipation regarding his upcoming feature, Eega. Rajamouli has to his credit the biggest grossing Telugu film ever, Magadheera, which also became a viral sensation, thanks in part to Twitch, from a brief clip of a Jeep jumping into a helicopter. The film was incredibly successful, and in all honesty, a really fun film, in spite of its epic length. In addition to Magadheera, Rajamouli has numerous other successes to his credit. Prior to Magadheera, he directed a major hit titled Yamadonga, which was a so-called "socio-fantasy".
