". . . New York City's Central Park," we learn here. That is not even the main secret revealed in Part One of a two-segment GOLDENEYE promotion. Its primary disclosure from writer Chris Fowler, as read by voice-over narrator Tim Pigott Smith, is that the Broccoli Family scraped together a $50 million budget for GOLDENEYE in an era of $180 million action movies. Since England in the 1990s was on the rocks, cast and crew were able to commandeer an abandoned auto factory and build models of St. Petersburg, Russia (full-size), as well as miniatures of Siberia and Puerto Rico on a 1/7 scale. WPA laborers also apparently built a 700-foot dam and a life-sized mock-up of the world's largest radio transmitter. All this was dubbed "Cubbyworld," after the family pet name for long-time Eon Company Bond flick producer Albert R. Broccoli. Eon's James V, Pierce Brosnan, expresses awe at his surroundings, occasionally resembling a deer caught in headlights here. Many clips from the finished film are mixed in with ten mini-interviews featuring GOLDENEYE director Martin Campbell, miniature men Derek Meddings and Peter Aston, DP Phil Meheux, producer Michael G. Wilson, and special effects artist Chris Corbould, among others.

The second part of THE SECRET FILES, which I rated at "7" of 10, lasts 12 minutes, 19.94 seconds. The DVD menu calls it GOLDENEYE: THE SECRET FILES--THE CAST. It is notable for including Judi Dench as "M;" Ms. Dench is inexplicably absent from THE RETURN OF BOND: THE START OF PRODUCTION PRESS EVENT. Each actor's comments is accompanied by a wide-screen clip featuring them in the movie. During Robbie Coltrane's segment, he plays Hagrid-with-a-Cigar, and Minnie Driver as his mistress "Irina" can be seen singing in the background.
