So Muy Bad, So Muy Good

Feminine Intuition is a perfect example of what makes Acapulco Heat so awful that it's entertaining. The encapsulation of the terrible greatness of the whole series is right at the start when Mr. Smith briefs the crew on their mission, he repeatedly refers to the English secret service MI6 (that's em-eye-six) as M16 (that's em-sixteen). Now, I understand how they look similar on paper, but during filming and editing either the crew didn't feel the need to point this out, or, if they did, the producers did not feel this mistake was worth fixing. Never mind that the premise of the show is team member Ashley is a former MI6 agent. So it's hardly a phrase actor John Vernon hadn't heard before if he ever watched an episode of the show. Or any James Bond film. Later and throughout this very episode, many characters correctly say MI6.

But, there are so many other dreadful delights.

The main bad guy is supposed to be the a drug lord in Columbia, yet he seems to spend all his time flirting with girls in a bar and watching Cat model on the beach. He never seems to do any drug dealing. And although he would presumably have a huge team of local assassins, he depends on a former MI6 agent to his dirty work. And for his biggest job - killing a judge that might actually put him away for good - he doesn't want to pay half her fee upfront as he usually does. Later, she still goes to a lot of trouble to save him. Upon being rescued, Marcos tells said M16 agent Taylor that he no longer needs her services. But, he has a lot of money and will still pay her what he owes. So she of course shoots him dead.

The final gun battle is spectacularly sophomoric. Spoiler alert: the team is saved by Arthur playing a tape of police sirens. Because, just the sound of police cars approaching is enough to make drug cartel members in Columbia throw down their guns and up their hands.

It's all so wonderfully awful that I can not stop watching.
