Warning: Spoilers
Hour One.

(06.17.96)

Live from Richmond, VA

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Larry Zbyszko

Stevie Ray Vs Rick Steiner

Rick wins with a clothesline out of nowhere in the corner. Booker T runs in and attacks Rick Steiner after the match. Booker tries to do the Harlem Hangover on Rick, but Scott runs down and takes the blow for his brother instead. This match was way too short. It ended almost as quickly as it began. We get some decent action while it lasted, though.

*1/4

Disco Inferno Vs "The Desperado" Joe Gomez

Disco has the match won, but he gets too cocky with a nonchalant cover, and Gomez rolls him over and pins him. This was pretty pointless stuff.

*

Gene Okerlund is with Ric Flair, Debra, Miss Elizabeth & Woman backstage. Debra says she turned on Kevin Greene for the money. Flair also comments on his match with the Macho Man later tonight.

Chris Beniot & Arn Anderson Vs The American Males (Buff Bagwell & Scotty Riggs)

Beniot and Anderson win after Beniot drops Riggs chest first across the top rope. This wasn't too bad. The crowd was red hot for everything Anderson and Beniot did. They disliked the American Males thoroughly.

*3/4

Anderson says his deal with Kevin Sullivan went sour and he wasn't Four Horsemen material. Beniot says the Horsemen are about Guts, Glory, and Glamour. They are stronger than ever.

Big Bubba (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs John Tenta

Tenta wins with two powerslams. Big Bubba beats up Tenta with a sock filled with coins after the match (Yes, seriously) This is why I couldn't stand WCW at times, because of BS like this. Who uses a sock filled with coins as a weapon? Ridiculous.

3/4*

Big Bubba gloats over what he did to Tenta and says he has his number. That must be why you lost twice....

Randy Savage is ecstatic about being reinstated in WCW. He admits he's a little "out there" but he went and saw a psychiatrist and she said he's OCD. She thinks he's a cool dude. He's gonna stay in WCW forever because nobody can keep him down.

Thoughts: How can you not love a promo from the Macho Man? They are classics.

Hour two

Your hosts are Tony Schiavone & Bobby Heenan

Randy Savage chases Bobby Heenan all around the ring. Heenan hilariously jumps over the top rope like he's a cat. He's pretty agile for someone who is relatively out of shape.

"Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs Ric Flair (W/Woman, Miss Elizabeth & Debra)

Savage has the match won with the flying elbow, but he doesn't want the pin. He hits one more flying elbow, fends off attacks from Beniot and Anderson as well. Steve McMichael comes in and waffles Savage with a briefcase. Flair crawls over and puts his arm around Savage to get the three count. This was an entertaining brawl between these two. Honestly, what else is new? These two just know what to do together. Savage was protected in defeat, so he wasn't harmed with the loss.

***

The Giant & Kevin Sullivan comment on The solidity of the Four Horsemen. The Giant says The Dungeon of Doom is the true dominant stable.

Cruserweight Championship

Dean Malenko (C) Vs Rey Mysterio Jr.

Malenko wins with an inverted DDT. THIS is what it should have been like at the Great American Bash. They produced an excellent match here that was far more exciting. It's filled with several near- falls, and they managed to get the crowd into it as well. Good stuff, boys.

***1/2

WCW Heavyweight Championship

The Giant (C) (W/Jimmy Hart) Vs Scott Steiner

The Giant wins with a chokeslam. The coolest thing about this match was Scott Steiner delivering an over the head, belly to belly suplex to The Giant. The crowd popped huge for it, as did I. I went nuts for that. The rest of the match was mediocre. Also, how is it that Scott Steiner didn't get disqualified after nailing The Giant with a chair?

*1/2

Lex Luger, Sting, and Randy Savage will face The Outsiders & Mystery Partner at Bash of the Beach

6.5/10 ranking overall
