Warning: Spoilers
The actual origins of this movie were from a special department within the navy based out of the Naval Ship Yard in Washington, DC. Commander Matt G. Costarakis, Commander John C. Roach, and Captain Maury Cagle were the main benefactors to the film with research and content. This was done for the 75th Anniversary of Naval Aviation. Commander Matt Costarakis was a pilot serving over 30 years in the Navy, flying over 34 different aircraft and had been in the Persian Gulf War flying the F/A-18 Hornet. Commander John C. Roach was, and still is to this day, a renowned navel artist; whose works can be seen in many documentaries as well as the 50 foot wall painting at the Arizona memorial in Hawaii. Captain Maury Cagle was a sailor who retired as a captain of a ship. During 1986, the team traveled to air shows around the country and also flew with the 75th Anniversary of Naval Aviation PBY Catalina; which was one of the first of 3 aircraft to travel over the Atlantic.
