An aspiring 22-year-old singer named Kaya Stewart recently decided to go about kickstarting her music career the old-fashioned way: by auditioning for American Idol. To accompany her on guitar, she brought along her father, a fedora-clad fellow who just so happens to be Eurythmics co-founder Dave Stewart.
In the clip from Kaya’s Idol episode, the celebrity judges are quick to recognize Dave, who’s done production work for the likes of Mick Jagger, Ringo Starr, and Tom Petty, to name a few. “We were inducted into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame together,” judge Lionel Richie beams. “Just to have you with your daughter I think is so cool.”
Meanwhile, fellow judge Katy Perry seems a little put off by the “nepo baby” stunt, asking Kaya what we’re all thinking: “With all the different opportunities and connections and stuff, how did you even land at American Idol,...

How hot were Faye (Phoebe Tonkin) and Lee Labeque (Grey Damon) in last week's episode of "The Secret Circle"? Sure, they stirred up a whole lot of trouble together -- and nearly took out the rest of the circle -- but we can totally forgive them their mischief when it brews that much chemistry.
Unfortunately for the troubling twosome, Lee has a past... and that past is about to wake up from her coma. Zap2it has learned exclusively that beginning in episode 115, titled "Return," Alexia Fast is set to star as Eva, Lee's ex-girlfriend, whose drug-induced coma naptime is up. The role is recurring.
Though she was once "sweet and demure," upon opening her eyes after the coma, Eva has some "cracks" in her personality. Something is seriously not right with her -- which only becomes more apparent when she meets the new lady in Lee's life, Faye. (Cue ominous music now!

Jessica Parker Kennedy is a familiar face to fans of "Smallville" and the short-lived MTV series "Kaya," but we expect that after "Undercovers" premieres on NBC this fall, she'll become a household name. The hype for the J.J. Abrams-helmed drama has already begun, and we've pegged "Undercovers" as NBC's strongest move toward cleaning up its prime-time mess.
Zap2it chatted with Kennedy at the NBC Upfront presentation in NYC, where she was celebrating the new series' pickup. "Undercovers" stars Boris Kodjoe and Gugu Mbatha-Raw as husband and wife who meet while working as spies in the CIA. "They decide to retire and start a catering company," Kennedy tells us. "But they, of course, get thrust back into the CIA world and the spy world."
Kennedy plays Lizzy, the younger sister of Mbatha-Raw's character, who is unaware of her family's involvement in the CIA. "I hold down the fort while they're off on their adventures,...

"Fear Itself" should be pretty fresh in your minds considering it's hitting DVD soon with some very bitchin' artwork. The short-lived show was like the unofficial third season of "Masters of Horror". For various reasons it was pulled before it could run its final five episodes. FEARnet is out to fix all that.
Starting on September 2nd the final five will begin being aired. Below you'll find a synopsis of each episode and when you can tune in to see them.
"Something With Bite," directed by Ernest Dickerson (NBC’s "Heroes"), is a reinvention of the classic werewolf story from writer Max Landis ("Masters of Horror"), the son of John Landis ("An American Werewolf in London"). When a veterinarian (Wendell Pierce, “The Wire”) is bitten by a large, strange animal brought into his clinic, he begins to see the world and his stale life differently. Paula Jai Parker (“Side Order of Life,...

Lois Curren has been promoted to president of entertainment and programming at MTV, which also has greenlighted six new series, including the scripted show Kaya and a Making the Band spinoff from Sean Diddy Combs.
In her new role, Curren, who was executive vp series entertainment, will oversee all development, production, program planning and scheduling for MTV. During her tenure at the network, Curren has overseen such hits as The Osbournes, Punk'd, Newlyweds and Pimp My Ride. She now will oversee all new and returning series, including Adventures in HollyHood, Living Lahaina, Human Giant, "Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz" and newly greenlighted series "Taquita & Kaui," all scheduled to begin airing in the second quarter.
Based in MTV's West Coast offices in Santa Monica, Curren will continue to report to Brian Graden, president of entertainment at MTV Networks Music Group and president of Logo.
Her track record is undeniable, Graden said. "One of the things that's so amazing about Lois is her extremely consistent creative instincts. MTV's biggest challenge is not to clone itself and do the same thing it did yesterday, but I trust Lois' instincts and feel like the network is in good hands."
Meanwhile, Curren pointed to the diverse range of programming that has just been greenlighted under her leadership, including Kaya, a single-camera half-hour scripted series that tells the story of a musically gifted young woman who struggles with becoming an overnight sensation. The story is told through a series of flashbacks, present-day moments and occasional flash-forwards. The number of episodes has yet to be determined.
"This is a cultural touchstone for what's going on right now (with some pop stars) and seemed like a great place for us to dip our toes back in that water (of scripted series)," Curren said.
