The Cousteau crew is entering hippo-infested waters! Are they nuts?!?!
planktonrules26 March 2017
Hippos are the nastiest and most dangerous mammals in Africa. Yes, they kill more folks than elephants or lions, as unlike these two, hippos just seem to delight in slicing folks in two with their tusks or stomping them to death. They are NOT to be taken lightly. And yet, in spite of this, the Cousteau crew are going to Zambia in Africa in order to film this hellishly dangerous animals...making it one of the more dangerous adventures you'll ever see on "The Undersea World of Jacques Cousteau".

To get good underwater footage of the animals, the Cousteau crew initially try using a hippo suit! The hippos were NOT impressed and avoided the two guys in the faux hippo! So, they resorted to the insane notion of getting into the water with the hippos and filming them...which you see them doing at close range. One of them even tries petting a baby hippo...which is truly foolhardy and irresponsible! You won't see that sort of dumb behavior in most nature documentaries!! The film, by the way, was pretty murky because hippos are giant poop machines!! In fact, you really don't get good looks of the animals in the water--mostly above the water or out of the water. Worth seeing but as I said a bit irresponsible and stupid.
