It's not cheap to make a big ass monster movie, but it sounds like Warner Bros. and Legendary did a damn fine job of being fiscally responsible with "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." The latest entry in the MonsterVerse franchise has a reported net (emphasis on net) budget of just $135 million. Using the word "just" sounds a little silly when talking about that much money, but considering that blockbuster budgets are so often closer to $200 million these days — if not more — this is a welcome bit of news. It also shouldn't be shocking, honestly. This should be closer to the rule, rather than the exception to it.
According to a recent report from Deadline, director Adam Wingard's "Godzilla x Kong" has a budget of $135 million (before marketing) that was 75% covered by Legendary and 25% covered by Warner Bros. The net part is important because it probably means the figure...

Before Star Wars, Harrison Ford had a mysterious role in American Graffiti that perfectly foreshadowed his iconic Han Solo character. Ford's small yet impactful cameo as Bob Falfa in George Lucas's film showcased his rebel demeanor and vehicle prowess, like Solo. American Graffiti's influence on Ford's career highlights the lasting power of his filmography and his collaboration with George Lucas.
Before Harrison Ford starred in 1977's Star Wars as the iconic Han Solo, a previous George Lucas movie brilliantly foreshadowed the actor and director's future collaboration success. Although there are plenty of movies by Star Wars writers not about the series, Lucas's early career is one of the shining examples of breathing life into projects that aren't set in a galaxy far, far away. Furthermore, despite his limited filmography, some of the best movies directed by George Lucas have contributed to cinematic history in ways that continue to...

Dom Toretto's story needs a satisfying conclusion in Fast 11 to provide closure for fans and signal the end of the main franchise. To keep the Fast & Furious franchise fresh, it's important to move on from Vin Diesel's Dom and introduce a new lead character.

Denzel Washington missed a potential box office record by turning down a role in 'Fast & Furious.' His highest-grossing film, 'American Gangster,' is easily surpassed by the earnings of 'Furious 7.' While he could have broken his record, Washington made the right choice in passing on the franchise role.
Denzel Washington had an easy shot to break an eight-year-old box office record, but he lost it by rejecting a role in the Fast & Furious franchise. The high-octane racing franchise has become one of the biggest in Hollywood over the course of more than 20 years. Furious 7 was a pivotal installment in this regard, as it became the first Fast & Furious movie to make over $1 billion, establishing a higher bar for future movies. The sustained popularity and success of the films has helped the $7.3 billion franchise recruit plenty of notable stars, such as Dwayne Johnson.

Sony hopes to wash the taste of Madame Web out of people’s mouths with a new official Spider-Man that has the strength of the MCU behind it. The next entry of the Marvel Studios Spider-Man franchise has been carefully planning its next steps as No Way Home celebrated the web crawler’s film legacy, then ultimately took Peter Parker back to his smaller roots in the end as a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. However, the previous trilogy director, Jon Watts, will not be returning to the new entry, so it’s now up in the air for who can take the reins.

Marvel Studios has a bunch of new movies lined up, even though they’ve had some struggles with recent projects. Despite Iger saying they might slow down on releasing stuff because fans are getting tired of lower-quality shows and movies. But Spider-Man is still a big draw for them. It’s the most profitable Marvel franchise, no matter what.
Speaking of Spider-Man, in the MCU, there are already three standalone movies, and another one is on the way. Producer Amy Pascal confirmed this a while back. She said they were working on the sequel, but had to stop because of the WGA Strike. There were rumors going around a few months ago that the same director, Watts, would come back for the fourth one. But then people started saying Drew Goddard might take over instead.
Lately, there’s been talk that Jon Watts might not be directing ‘Spider-Man 4’ after losing a disagreement with Feige.

Fast & Furious is Vin Diesel's bread and butter - Bloodshot proved he needs it more. Diesel doesn't have a clear replacement after Fast 11; other projects lack the same impact. Bloodshot's failure jeopardized a new cinematic universe, after the disappointing box office draw.
Vin Diesel’s shared universe film failure in 2020 only raises more questions about the action hero's future after his time with the Fast & Furious franchise comes to an end. During its run, the series has gone from focusing on street racing to combining fast cars with heists and espionage. The Rock Found His Fast & Furious Replacement 6 Years Ago - So Why Is Another Sequel Taking So Long?
Jumanji movies are The Rock's most successful outside Fast & Furious, offering fun, engaging characters and high box office earnings. Jumanji 4 delays could impact its box office potential due to production challenges and The Rock's jam-packed schedule. The Rock's perfect role seems to be in Jumanji, balancing humor and action, but Fast & Furious 11 may delay Jumanji sequels.
While Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson seems to have already worked out a perfect replacement for the Fast & Furious franchise, the progress of this series has still been frustratingly slow. The Rock’s movie career has been incredibly impressive, but his star power isn’t always enough to fuel an entire franchise. From Jungle Cruise to Black Adam to Southland Tales, The Rock has appeared in plenty of movies that were not financially successful enough to warrant an immediate string of sequels and spinoffs. So, last weekend saw the release of a sequel, the fourth in a franchise concerning the powerful Po, and this Friday we’ll get a hybrid sequel/reboot with those proton-pack sporting phantom fighters. So, what about a full-fledged remake? Aha, you’ll get your wish this Thursday with a “re-imagining” of a cult favorite from way back in 1989, a year which I’ll always associate with the caped crusader. But he wasn’t the only action hero as the late great (Starlord called “legendary”) Patrick Swayze rocked a cool mullet as he broke bones and noses (and a few hearts) as the baddest “bouncer” of them all. Sure, there was a straight-to-video sequel in 2006, but now we get a new spin on the tale when we drop in for some brews and bruisin’ at the ole’ Road House.

Movie franchises face challenges maintaining a positive critical reception over time, but some have lengthy "fresh" streaks on Rotten Tomatoes The Marvel Cinematic Universe and Harry Potter maintained impressive positive streaks until recent releases broke them. Most franchises don't get more than five "fresh" movies in a row, but for Indiana Jones and The Hunger Games, that encompasses all their movies.
Rotten Tomatoes isn't a perfect indicator of whether a movie franchise is worthwhile or not, but those that maintain long streaks of "fresh" scores typically do so for a reason. Many movie franchises start off strong — enough so that they spawn multiple sequels and spinoffs — then steadily decline or dip in places throughout their runs. It's difficult for an IP to keep a high quality with every release, and this is especially true for the longest-running movie franchises.
Some franchises bounce back from these low points, while others cut their losses.

Oscar nominees Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt are the Barbenheimer comedy duo we didn’t know we’ve been waiting for in The Fall Guy. Trailer number two shows off more of the chemistry between Gosling and Blunt while also delivering more action, more humor, and enough shirtless Gosling scenes to keep audiences satiated until the film’s theatrical release on May 3, 2024.
Joining Gosling and Blunt in the action comedy are Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Bullet Train), Winston Duke (Black Panther franchise), and Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (Everything Everywhere All at Once).
Drew Pearce (Hobbs & Shaw) wrote the screenplay, stuntman David Leitch directed, with Leitch, Gosling, Kelly McCormick, and Guymon Casady produced. Executive producers include Pearce, Geoff Shaevitz, and the creator of the original Fall Guy television series, Glen A. Larson.

Hollywood faces a significant imbalance when it comes to its stars. There are some actors like Adam Sandler who can’t separate the profession from real life and cast his friends and family as characters in movies. Then, there are others who vanish into a role for years, portraying their commitment to the art.
Actors like Dwayne Johnson and Adam Sandler often portray characters close to their real-life persona
While bringing their real-life persona into a character is not necessarily a bad thing, there are actors whom the audiences love for it and some whom they hate for the same. Here’s a look at actors who often portray characters close to their public image.

The Fast & Furious film franchise is a hit!
The 10th movie in the popular series, directed by Louis Leterrier, arrived in theaters in 2023 as the second-to-last film in the franchise, with the final installment Fast X Part 2 set to arrive in April 2025.
The movie features plenty of fan-favorites who’ve been featured throughout the series, as well as some A-list surprises as well.
The series of action films kicked off with the original in 2001, largely centered around street racing, heists, spies, and family, and has ballooned into short films, a TV series, toys, video games, and even live shows and attractions. Of course, many of the stars of the series have amassed a fortune!
We’ve gathered up the cast of Fast & Furious, and ranked them from lowest to highest estimated net worth. You might be surprised who came out on top!

Fast & Furious 11 must find a sensible way of bringing Brian O'Connor for a proper ending. Failing to acknowledge Brian would play against the franchise's finale. As the end of the main saga, Fast & Furious 11 must honor Paul Walker and Brian O'Connor properly.
Fast & Furious 11, or Fast X: Part 2, is being described as the franchise’s finale, meaning the series cannot ignore Brian O’Connor any longer. Paul Walker, who played Brian in six Fast and Furious movies, tragically passed away on November 30, 2013, when filming for Furious 7 had yet to be completed. The Fast Saga has referenced Brian and honored Walker’s legacy within the franchise multiple times now, from the emotional ending scene of the seventh installment to Little Brian. Still, Brian’s presence in the story has been very limited, which is something Fast 11 will have to address.

Vin Diesel wants to create the biggest Fast & Furious project in his follow-up to 2023’s Fast X. The tenth film in the franchise saw many of the star cast from over the years return to their roles, blowing up the budget beyond what the producers had anticipated. Diesel is reportedly making a similar ask, $250 million, from the studio for Fast 11, but they are not ready to give it to the actor.

Fast X wasted Jason Momoa's Dante Reyes, the best Fast and Furious villain since Hobbs. Fast X was disappointing compared to its great villain. Dante Reyes is expected to return in a Hobbs spinoff movie and Fast & Furious 11 to conclude the Fast Saga.
Fast X wasted Fast and Furious’ best villain in 12 years, but two upcoming films can fix it. While the Fast Saga is heading toward its ending, there are at least two more confirmed Fast and Furious movies in the works. One of them is the upcoming Fast & Furious 11, which is currently titled Fast X: Part 2 and will serve as a direct follow-up to Fast X’s ending. Considering Fast X’s disappointing box office run, the saga will have to regain momentum if it wants to end on a high note.

So many actors have their beginnings on the stage, doing routines that might seem cringe but are 100% part of who they are: a pre-teen Ryan Gosling with those retro dance moves and Mc Hammer pants, Rodney Alcala smoothly winning over the ladies on The Dating Game and – Ok, maybe that second one doesn’t quite qualify. But here’s another that does: Alan Ritchson on American Idol. That’s right, the star of Reacher once tried to make it big by wooing Paula Abdul.
While Alan Ritchson moved onto Hollywood during the third season of American Idol, he was ultimately cut, with the eventual winner being Fantasia Barrino, who we should note is not a small screen action hero. Ritchson’s standout moment came when he stunned judge Paula Abdul just by being in the room, bringing a smile to her face. He would subsequently personally serenade her with Stevie Wonder...

Johnson's upcoming A24 drama continues his trend of exploring more dramatic roles, showcasing his commitment to diverse acting opportunities. His role in "The Smashing Machine" will delve into the rise and fall of Mark Kerr's career, highlighting his struggles with substance abuse and fame. This move by Johnson is a great career shift, offering him a chance to demonstrate his acting range beyond his typical action blockbusters, and potentially opening new doors.

It's been several days now since this year's Oscars ceremony, and yet I'm still scratching my head as to why the Academy had Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt present a montage honoring stunts and stunt performers without mentioning why they had selected these two specific actors to do so. Then there's the bitter irony of the Academy celebrating stunt performers while stubbornly refusing to give them an Oscar of their own, but that's a whole other rabbit hole.
While it's true the pair starred in dual halves of Barbenheimer last year, they've also got a new film coming out in "The Fall Guy." Loosely adapted from Glen A. Larson's '80s action-adventure TV series of the same name, the movie casts Gosling as a stuntman who's rapidly aging out of his occupation from years of risking permanent bodily harm, only to find himself unraveling a mystery on the set...

At this year’s Academy Awards, “The Fall Guy” stars Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt presented a video tribute to stunt performers that included clips ranging from the silent era up through recent action juggernauts like “Rrr” and the “Fast & Furious” series. It was a step forward for a group whose contributions are frequently undervalued despite, as Blunt put it, “risk[ing] life and limb” for cinema. And yet, the segment didn’t come with an award attached.
There’s a joke about the lack of Oscars for stunt people in “The Fall Guy,” directed by David Leitch — himself a former stuntman who doubled for Brad Pitt and Jean-Claude Van Damme before moving up into the director’s chair with “John Wick” in 2014. The protagonist of David Leitch’s entertaining new action-comedy The Fall Guy doesn’t have many complaints about life as a stuntman. Sure, he does most of the hard work for half the recognition, but Colt Seavers (an ace Ryan Gosling) gets hype about jumping out of helicopters, diving off balconies and performing other dangerous physical feats that make movies look cool. He’s not an adrenaline junkie; he just understands the critical role stuntmen play on set.
Colt has been a stunt double for Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), an international superstar with a lethal combo of arrogance and insecurity, for six years. The two share the type of sacred bond that’s only possible with someone who is paid to risk major injury and possible death for you.
