Red Water Entertainment has snapped up North American distribution rights to the single take thriller “Failure!” led by Ted Raimi (“The Quarry”).
This Mexico-u.S. co-production, shot in an unbroken 87-minute take, follows business tycoon James (Raimi) as he faces a crushing bank debt deadline. With time running out, he contends with treacherous associates, deceitful friends and haunting pasts, and is forced to choose between financial collapse or murder.
Directed by Alex Kahuam (“Forgiveness”), “Failure!” is believed to be the first time a Mexican filmmaker has made a feature film without cuts in the U.S.
The cast also includes Merrick McCartha (“Senior Year”), Melissa Diaz (“Ruthless”), John Paul Medrano (“Seven Days”), Daniel Kuhlman (“Voodoo Macbeth”) and Noel Douglas Orput.
The film gained a boost after bowing at the inaugural Fantastic Pavilion Galas, the Cannes Film Festival market’s genre showcase that was introduced in 2023. It has since screened at Frightfest,...

2023 was a feast for gamers who love the horror genre. With RE4, Dead Space, Dead Island 2, and the anticipated Alan Wake sequel, we’ve had our fill-off “Why are you running?” meme-worthy moments. This year, though, things have seemed a little too quiet on the spooky front. But it looks like we’ll be quivering soon enough with releases like Hellblade 2 and Little Nightmares 3.
Alan Wake 2 was a mind-boggling hit with its twisted and intricate story.
There is another, set for a June release, that seems to have players on the edge of their seats- Still Wakes the Deep. Labeled a disaster story, the game takes place in a contained space on an oil rig. While many horror games provide a vast map or a larger premise of a property (like The Quarry or Until Dawn), developer Chinese Room wants to push the envelope and provide players with a true...

One of the core components of a video game is the cast that has been put behind the in-game characters. Not only do they give their voice to the character, but ultimately bring it to life making the experience worthwhile. While popular franchises, such as Final Fantasy are known for sticking with renowned actors to voice their characters, their one decision has proved to be for the worse according to their player base.
Final Fantasy cast Tyler Hoechlin for the role of Sephiroth in the games
The character of Sephiroth has always been an iconic one and was voiced by George Newbern before the year 2020. Newbern’s voice was unfortunately retired 4 years ago, and the replacement was none other than Tyler Hoechlin, an actor known for his work as Superman in CW’s Superman and Lois.

Many Xbox players want to live the Helldivers 2 cinematic experience on their platform. Unfortunately, Arrowhead Game Studios made no other mention of this popular game coming to a new platform that isn’t the PlayStation or PC.
Game Pass will add a similar cinematic experience today, The Quarry from Supermassive Games, so Xbox players don’t feel so left out. There are other very good titles that also came to the Game Pass; one of the most anticipated is Diablo 4. Xbox and PC players: Game Pass is really a good service.

Microsoft has announced the latest batch of games coming to Xbox Game Pass at the tail end of March and the start of April.
The biggest games joining Microsoft’s subscription service are The Quarry, which is coming tomorrow on March 20, and Diablo 4 on March 28. The remaster of popular dinosaur survival—Ark Survival Ascended—is joining the fray on April 1.
Diablo 4 is the first Blizzard title to be heading to Game Pass after Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard in October 2023. The Arpg behemoth recovered some lost grounds after its rocky release last year. The next season of Diablo 4, the Season of the Construct, is scheduled for release on April 16. So, Game Pass subscribers can hopefully get their hands on a product that had most of its rough edges polished at this point.

Until Dawn was the start of something big for Supermassive Games. Thanks to the success of this title, the studio could make other games like The Dark Pictures anthology, The Quarry, and several other games that are in development.
Until Dawn has a live-action adaptation that is already in development, but unfortunately, the studio has suffered a very similar thing that is invading the industry: layoffs. Supermassive has confirmed this on social media, and some insiders are talking about 90 layoffs.

Supermassive, the British studio behind such horror hits as Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology, is to lay off around 90 staff, citing “significant challenges.”
With such hit horror games as 2015’s Until Dawn and The Dark Pictures Anthology series behind it, Supermassive Games is one of the UK’s most successful studios.
Despite this, the Surrey-based company has announced that it’s to lay off around 90 members of staff – equating to about a quarter of its employees, which is said to number around the 350 mark.
Bloomberg first reported the news (via Eurogamer), and while those numbers haven’t been officially confirmed by Supermassive, the studio has confirmed that a “reorganisation” is underway which will result in multiple job losses.
“It’s no secret that the games industry is currently facing significant challenges,” a statement posted on Twitter/X reads, “and unfortunately we aren’t immune to this.”

Supermassive’s horror game Until Dawn has been confirmed for a Playstation 5 and PC release later in 2024.
Playstation held their first State Of Play of 2024 last night (31st January). Gamers around the world got sneak peeks at Playstation’s upcoming games and plenty of new announcements.
One of those announcements was Until Dawn’s release on Playstation 5. Supermassive’s seminal horror game from 2015, originally released for PS4, will be available on both PS5 and PC sooner than you’d think.
While the team didn’t give the game a set release date, they did reveal that it would be coming later this year.
Until Dawn is arguably Supermassive’s biggest release to date and for good reason. It’s almost unbearably tense and has excellent replay value. The gameplay consists of making choices rather than traditional exploration and combat. The choices you make then change how the narrative unfolds and...

With the Alone in the Dark remake being bumped to March, it does give Pieces Interactive and Thq Nordic time to show off more of the game. Such is the case with the Digital Deluxe Edition for Alone in the Dark, which will not only allow you to experience the game with a variety of filters, but also throws back to the 1992 original.
As the name implies, the Derceto 1992 costume pack brings back the low-poly versions of Edward Carnby and Emily Hartwood from Infogrames’ original Alone in the Dark, which no doubt get even more bizarre once when paired with actors David Harbour and Jodie Comer voicing the delightfully chunky characters. What’s even cooler is that you can swap these models out on the fly.

In December 2023, a new chapter of the hit horror video game series Dead By Daylight was announced. Instead of new additions to the core multiplayer game that the series is known for, Behaviour Interactive instead revealed a new single-player driven experience in collaboration with Supermassive Games, dubbed The Casting of Frank Stone. A shroud of mystery still surrounds Frank Stone–aside from its reveal trailer and an interactive teaser website, the developers have been keeping additional details under the wraps.

Supermassive’s hit video game Until Dawn is celebrating its 10th anniversary next year, and The Hollywood Reporter reports today that a movie adaptation is on the way!
David F. Sandberg, who directed Lights Out and Annabelle Creation before helming the two Shazam movies, will be seated in the director’s chair for the Until Dawn movie.
Blair Butler (Sony’s The Invitation) wrote the original draft of the screenplay, and THR notes that Gary Dauberman is now working on the script.
THR previews, “The logline for the feature adaptation is kept deep inside the caves but Screen Gems is describing it as R-rated love letter to the horror genre, centering on an ensemble cast.”

"Blemish, you don't even like music!" "Who ever said that?" Time for something a bit funky and tons of fun. The Quarry is an 11-minute animated short film comedy made by the illustrator / animation filmmaker Graham Mason based in NYC. it was originally created for Adult Swim Smalls, their short films spin-off featuring all kinds of wacky, weird creations. The Quarry is described as a "soap opera about rocks" though it's much more of a sitcom about rocks working at a quarry. One of them tries to ask out his co-worker on a date, and things don't go as planned. Featuring the voices of Brad Howe, Matthew Maher, Grace Rex, and Peter Smith. It likely won't be turned into a primetime sitcom anytime soon, but it's a fun escape into the wacky world of rocks trying to, uh, have a solid life. I laughed the most at the rock keyboard at the start.

2023 was one hell of a year for games. From long-anticipated sequels like Alan Wake II, unexpectedly great remakes like Resident Evil 4 and Dead Space, and killer indies like Amnesia: The Bunker, there was absolutely no shortage in tremendous horror experiences.
What does the future hold? 2024 is already shaping up to be an interesting year with anticipated experiences of its own. These are the games we’re looking forward to next year.

The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering The Invitation (2015) was Written by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Narrated by Kier Gomes, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
Horror doesn’t always have to be jump scare after jump scare or a non-stop gore fest. It doesn’t have to have Aliens, Terminators, or Predators to say nothing of any of the other monsters we’ve seen over the years. Movies that don’t include those coveted horror checklists typically get lumped into the thriller category like Silence of the Lambs or even Get Out. Funny how those are the movies that the Globes and Oscars want to award. Without a shadow of a doubt horror films that can be labeled something a little more friendly to draw more audience demographics or get better ink in reviews. I’m here...

I’m a huge fan of the slasher genre. Out of every sub category in the wide horror genre, the slasher appeals to me the most. There’s just something thrilling about watching characters attempt to survive a monster in a mask that wants to butcher them to bits. Despite it being one of the most successful subgenres of film, it hasn’t really cracked the video game space all that much. Sure we’ve had gems like Friday the 13th, and some inversions of the genre like Until Dawn. But for the most part, if you want to live out the fantasy of being in a slasher film, the pickings are slim.
In comes Killer Frequency to change all of that; and it’s an absolute blast. If I had to pin it down, it feels like playing a video game version of the opening of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2...

After a tumultuous return to his family’s hole-in-the-wall Chicago restaurant, chef Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) and his staff transform the greasy sandwich joint into a first-class dining experience after he discovers the slush fund his brother left behind. Despite having the extra money to make his dreams a reality, the future proves to be both a personal and professional challenge for Carmy and the crew.
Watch the trailer for Season 2 of “The Bear”:
Beginning on June 14, the new series continuation of the beloved film “The Full Monty” arrives on Hulu. It’s 25 years later and the men and women of Sheffield, England, are in reboot mode, navigating life and family. Actor Ted Raimi loves horror so much that he’s dedicated much of his career to it, providing fans with an endless array of memorable characters from Evil Dead II’s Henrietta to last year’s morally complex Travis Hackett in video game The Quarry.
Up next for the horror stalwart is Failure!, an ambitious, violent thriller premiering this Sunday under the Fantastic Pavilion at this year’s Cannes’ Marché du Film.
In Failure!, Ted Raimi produces and stars as a man forced to choose between financial ruin and murder with little time to process, resulting in a crime thriller that delivers on violence. That’s burying the lede, however, as Raimi’s latest takes on the daunting task of capturing this moral conundrum through one single take.
Ted Raimi exclusively spoke with Bloody Disgusting about Failure!, detailing the challenges of making a single-take feature-length thriller.
The producer/actor shares how Failure!

As the documentary title goes, you cannot kill David Arquette. But you can make him feel awfully small if you’re his wife and consistently get more jobs and higher paychecks than him. David Arquette recently opened up about his struggles coping with Courteney Cox’s fame, saying machismo and ego could get in the way.
Speaking with Andy Cohen on his titular show (via People), David Arquette explained that being married to Courteney Cox had its hang-ups, many relating to her success. “It’s difficult…I have some of the traditional male things where I want to like, you know, provide and pick up the check and, you know, be the breadwinner…In the acting world, in general, you’re always going on this roller coaster of popularity and not able to get a job…So it’s like this weird thing. When it comes to gaming subscription services, Sony has had a lot of trouble keeping up with Xbox’s offerings. However, the PlayStation team still drops the occasional gem via their PlayStation Plus subscription plan, and the service’s next update will include the release of one of PlayStation’s most painfully underrated RPG projects.
Recently, Sony announced the latest additions to the Extra and Premium levels of its PlayStation Plus service. The marquee games are beloved modern titles, such as Horizon Forbidden West and The Quarry, but the game that has everyone talking is tucked way down in the “PlayStation Premium | Classics” section: The Legend of Dragoon. For those who never heard of the game…well, have we got a story for you.
The Legend of Dragoon is a cult classic turn-based RPG developed by Japan Studio (the company behind Ape Escape and Gravity Rush) and published for the original PlayStation.

Supermassive Games is diving once again into horror with its upcoming project, which will no doubt please fans of their recent efforts in The Quarry, and in the ongoing The Dark Pictures Anthology.
Speaking with Video Games Chronicle, Supermassive Games studio director Will Byles stated that the team’s next horror project will be about the same scale as The Quarry, with a targeted release of 2025 or 2026. “We’ve started working on [the next game]. I can’t really tell you very much at all about it, but we have started. Again, it’s the same sort of horror genre, we’re sticking to that. Supermassive Games has recently announced that the latest entry in The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me will be released on November 18, 2022. In addition to the recent announcement, I had the chance to preview some gameplay footage, as well as hear from Game Director, Tom Heaton, about the inspirations and influences that impacted the development of the game. Referred to as “the season one finale of the anthology”, The Devil in Me already looks to be an amalgamation of lessons learned from previous entries in the anthology and feedback from its playerbase, and the preview has left me eager to dive back into The Dark Pictures come November.

Gaming company Take-Two Interactive has missed earnings expectations in its first report since its acquisition of mobile gaming company Zynga.
Despite higher revenue, Take-Two Interactive swung to a first quarter loss amid economic headwinds for the mobile industry. In the three months ended June 30, the company reported revenue of 1.1 billion, compared to 813.3 million in year-earlier quarter.
Take-Two swung to a first quarter net loss of 104 million, or a loss per share of 76 cents, compared to net income of 152.3 million, or earnings per share of 1.32 last year. Both the revenue and per-share earnings lines came in below Wall Street consensus forecasts.
Take-Two reached an agreement to acquire the mobile gaming company in January 2022 and the deal closed on May 23, meaning Zynga was represented in 39 days of the quarter.

Supermassive Games is the current king of interactive horror games. The studio’s latest title, The Quarry, is one of its best to date.
In The Quarry, every decision counts. Something as seemingly banal as climbing a ladder can lead players to one of approximately 186 different endings, and it might take gamers a few tries to save every playable character. Eventually, players will reach the end of the road, but what if they haven’t they haven’t had their fill of slasher horror or narrative-focused gaming? What if they want more?
