This article contains spoilers for Outer Range season 1.
There’s really nothing linear about Prime Video’s breakout science fiction/Western, Outer Range. Every time audiences assumed they had a grasp on what the show’s secrets would reveal, it would let loose a crater-sized twist, leaving fans scrambling to figure out what just happened. Even chronology isn’t linear, as the heroes of this fictional Wyoming ranch have been bucked back and forth through time like a prize bull-rider.
Yet here in the real world, fans have been patient to see the continuation of the Abbott family drama. It is certainly a loaded and layered show that deserves a rewatch to catch all the clues and mysteries of the Abbott ranch, but before the second season premieres, allow Den of Geek to recap what’s happened so far.

Stellar Blade is everywhere right now. From the constant controversies surrounding the game and supposed censorship to its many risque suits and in-your-face sexuality, there’s no escaping the discourse around it.
That negativity is part of the reason this review is later than others, as I wanted the waters to calm a little and everyone to be able to see the game objectively, rather than some topic of ragebait that others want it to be.
Stellar Blade’s Like Nothing That Came Before It Eve, Adam and co. take the fight to the Naytibas.
Stellar Blade‘s opening will be familiar to anyone who played the demo prior to release and ensures you’re instantly grabbed by the universe, the action, and the carnage that plays out. Not much is explained early on (or at all really), and you’re left to piece together the gravitas of the situation yourself.

One of the latest titles based on Akira Toriyama’s work was Sand Land, developed by Ilca and distributed by Bandai Namco. In a recent interview with FandomWire, the producer of the game, Keishu Minami, talked about how honored he was to work on a project based on a manga by Toriyama.
In the game, the main focus is desert and vehicular warfare and combat, but at some point, in the title, this changes. Minami discussed these changes and was eager for the fans to see the differences once the map completely changed after the first half of the game.

On paper, Biomutant is a bizarre but unique open-world RPG. Featuring bipedal cat-like creatures, it stands out through its combat system that combines martial arts with gunplay and elemental attacks. In reality, it is yet another mediocre cookie-cutter RPG that falters under the weight of its own ambitions.
Experiment 101’s debut title originally launched in 2021 and is now coming to the Nintendo Switch. How does the kung-fu fable fare on Nintendo’s 7-year-old console, and does the gameplay make up for its lack of a clear direction?
Biomutant releases on May 14th for Nintendo Switch. It is already out on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
With a long list of features, all kinds of mechanics, and a huge world, Biomutant is a jack of all trades—and a master of none. Sadly, the quantity-over-quality approach is evident throughout, as the team seems to have tossed an eclectic mix of ingredients into a pot,...

If you’re an anime fan, chances are you’ve watched Akira Toriyama’s work without necessarily working. From Dragon Ball to Sand Land you’ll be able to notice his distinctive art style and unique storytelling from a mile away.
Unfortunately, the man himself passed a few months prior to the release of Sand Land, but he did see late builds of his much-loved work come to life, and we were lucky enough to talk to Keishu Minami, the game’s producer, about everything you have in store for you when you boot it up for the first time!

Akira Toriyama left for the heavenly adobe on March 1, 2024. However, with his great works, he will always be among us, just like the latest action RPG by Bandai Namco, Sand Land. This title was released worldwide on April 26, 2024, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows.
Based on the original 2000 manga series created by Toriyama, Sand Land has already garnered a huge fanbase in no time. This makes it the last project of Toriyama. And the creator himself had high hopes for the game; that’s what his posthumous message to the fan suggests.
Akira Toriyama’s Message to the Sand Land Fans
Akira Toriyama had something to say to his Sand Land fans.
In a recent post, the official X handle of the game posted a letter conveying the emotions and feelings of Akira Toriyama for the Sand Land game. In this letter from January 2024, Toriyama talks about the game.

Feature documentary “Yintah” was more than a decade in the making as documentarians captured the Wet’suwet’en nation’s right to stewardship and sovereignty over their territories.
Directed by Jennifer Wickham, Brenda Michell, and Michael Toledano, “Yintah” debuted at the True/False Film Fest and screened at North America’s biggest documentary film festival Hot Docs as part of the Land|Sky|Sea program. The feature was made with the participation of over three dozen Wet’suwet’en community members, with the title translating to “land” in the Wet’suwet’en language.
The documentary centers on the aftermath of the 1997 landmark Delgamuukw-Gidsaywa Supreme Court of Canada case where the court recognized that the Wet’suwet’en people have never given up title to an area of land larger than New Jersey in northern British Columbia. The case included Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs and Gitxsan Hereditary Chiefs as plaintiffs.

Another recent story from Inside the Magic is headlined in a way that seemingly indicates that a Frozen Land has been announced for Walt Disney World. But is it true?
No. Currently, no announcement has been made for Walt Disney World. This doesn’t mean that they won’t someday, but as of now, it isn’t true.
What we do know is that Disney has announced plans to spend $60 billion across all its theme parks over ten years. We also know that Josh D’Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products, has teased a big project to be built “beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.” Blue-sky images have also been shown of a retheme for the Dinoland U.S.A. area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom into a “Tropical Americas” area based on IP.

These days, actress Robin Wright is likely best known for her six seasons as Claire Underwood on “House of Cards.” Her character’s trajectory on Netflix’s often-rancid take on underhanded politics saw her ending up becoming the 47th President of the United States after co-star Kevin Spacey was forced to leave the show due to allegations of sexual misconduct. Wright collected six Emmy nominations as Best Drama Actresss and two for being an executive producer on the show. Wright also earned directorial stripes while calling the shots behind the camera for 10 episodes as well.
That experience led her to make her directorial film debut with “Land,” in which she played Edee, a woman filled with suicidal thoughts after suffering a tragic personal loss. She decides to go off the grid while moving into a grungy cabin in amongst the scenic mountains of Wyoming. Her attempts to chop wood, hunt...

On April 26 of this year, Sand Land is going to make its way to multiple platforms. Even though it’s published by Bandai Namco, it seems like players are more eager to play Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. Naturally, the announcement regarding the upcoming game has brought the community onto a new hype train, and any other title now holds much less attention.
Even though Sand Land is based on the contemporary artist/writer Akira Toriyama’s work, the community seems to be more eager for Sparking Zero to arrive as soon as possible. Seems like fans would rather have the next game in the fighting saga than entertain a different game altogether.

Animal: Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Success Story Is Anything But Toxic! (Photo Credit –Instagram/IMDb)
After Kabir Singh, Sandeep Reddy Vanga has again become the talking point for all the same reasons post Animal’s release. Headlined by Ranbir Kapoor, the film stars an ensemble cast of Rashmika Mandanna, Triptii Dimri, Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, and Saloni Batra among others. Despite making a monstrous collection of over 550 crore globally, he has also been at the receiving end for glorying misogyny, toxic masculinity, and violence, just like he did in Shahid Kapoor starrer and Arjun Reddy.
But did you know, that the filmmaker once revealed that he didn’t have much money to spend on Vijay Deverakonda starrer after others backed out of the project? A Reddit user recently took the platform to share Vanga’s old video where he’s seen opening up about selling 36 acres of Mango garden for 1.5 crore,...

On Friday nights, IndieWire After Dark takes a feature-length beat to honor fringe cinema in the streaming age.
First, the spoiler-free pitch for one editor’s midnight movie pick — something weird and wonderful from any age of film that deserves our memorializing.
Then, the spoiler-filled aftermath as experienced by the unwitting editor attacked by this week’s recommendation.
The Pitch: Merry Chompmas to All, and to All a Good Chomp
In the beginning, Namco created “Pac-Man,” a cute exercise in 8-bit graphics that features an incomplete yellow circle navigating a dot-filled maze while avoiding colorful ghosts. An instant hit, the game’s only obvious flaw was the lack of information offered about the yellow circle’s genitalia. It wasn’t long before the company rectified that problem in 1982 with the release of “Ms. Pac-Man,” a nearly identical game whose circular protagonist wore a bow to identify herself as female, drawing...

Recently we had the pleasure of sitting down with Jon Batiste, Suleika Jaouad and filmmaker Matthew Heineman to talk about their new film American Symphony, which hits home on Netflix today.
Linda Marric chartered their long journey in a series of interviews about their unforgettable documentary centring around the multi-Grammy winning artist who, whilst celebrating a triumphant year in music learns that his beloved wife’s long dormant cancer has returned.
Early in 2022, multi-instrumentalist Jon Batiste finds himself the most celebrated artist of the year with eleven Grammy nominations including Album of the Year. In the midst of that triumph, Jon is immersed in his most ambitious challenge yet: composing “American Symphony”, an original symphony that thrillingly reimagines the classical traditions of the form, bringing together an expansive and inclusive diaspora of music for a performance at storied Carnegie Hall. This extraordinary trajectory is upended, however, when Batiste’s life...

Just over six months after criminal charges were dropped against Alec Baldwin for the 2021 killing of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, new involuntary manslaughter claims could be put before a grand jury in a matter of weeks.
“After extensive investigation over the past several months, additional facts have come to light that we believe show Mr. Baldwin has criminal culpability in the death of Halyna Hutchins and the shooting of Joel Souza,” said Special Prosecutors Kari Morrissey and Jason Lewis today of the tragedy on the New Mexico set of the Indie Western on October 21 two years ago.
“We believe the appropriate course of action is to permit a panel of New Mexico citizens to determine from here whether Mr. Baldwin should be held over for criminal trial,” the duo added Tuesday. Only a couple of sitcoms can claim to be a true juggernaut of American television. You have "Seinfeld," "Friends," and the granddaddy of them all, "I Love Lucy." Amongst that group is without a doubt "Three's Company," a show that dominated in the late 1970s and early '80s, and sadly, one of the show's core trio has passed away. As reported by Page Six, Suzanne Somers, best known for playing the ditzy blonde Chrissy on "Three's Company," has died at the age of 76, just one day before her birthday. Somers had been battling with breast cancer since the early 2000s, often promoting alternative and controversial treatments for the condition.
Somers, who also was one of the stars of the long-running show "Step by Step," had a wild up-and-down career in the business after her exit from "Three's Company," but she always managed to find ways to stay in the...

Jefferson, who was a staple in Quentin Tarantino films, opened up in August about battling cancer.
Keith Jefferson, an actor who appeared in a handful of Quentin Tarantino films like “Django Unchained”, “The Hateful Eight” and “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood”, has died. He was 53.
The official cause of death is not known, but Jefferson shared back in August he was battling cancer. Jamie Foxx took to Instagram on Thursday to pay tribute to his longtime friend and co-star. Foxx first shared a photo of himself with Jefferson in what appeared to be a recent visit to the hospital.
“[T]his one hurts. Keith, you’ve been nothing but absolute grace, your whole life your heart is pure your love is immeasurable you were an amazing soul,” Foxx captioned his post. “We will all miss you dearly. It’s gonna take a long time for this to heal. Goodbye, my friend.

1996 was a dark year for The Italian Stallion. Sylvester Stallone had two pricey flops in 1995, with Judge Dredd and Assassins. His Christmas of 1996 disaster movie release, Daylight, was another box office bomb. Just a few years before, Stallone had made a significant comeback with Cliffhanger and Demolition Man, but now the whole industry was changing. Carolco, the company that financed some of the era’s biggest hits, had gone bankrupt, and action movies were getting smaller and smaller. Arnold Schwarzenegger was on the decline, with Eraser a smaller hit than usual. Jean Claude Van Damme and Steven Seagal were only a few years away from making direct-to-video movies. What was Sly to do? The result is one of his very best movies –Cop Land – as we explore in the episode of Sylvester Stallone Revisited.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
One of the sad truths of the movie business as it exists is that great movies will sometimes slip through the cracks. A movie as good as "Booksmart" deserved a lot better than $25 million at the box office. Both "Blade Runner" and "The Thing" deserved better than getting trounced by "E.T." in 1982. Fortunately, cream tends to rise to the top over time, and good movies often find their audience eventually. Perhaps no movie released theatrically over the last decade deserved to find its audience more than director John Carney's "Sing Street."
Released in 2016, the movie about a kid who starts a band to impress a girl charmed just about every single person who saw it. The only problem is that not...

Joseph L. Mankiewicz’s All About Eve has ably demonstrated that a catty feud between theater critics and actresses is crackling subject matter for witty, adult entertainment. Anand Tucker’s The Critic follows a similar premise and, auspiciously, recruited playwright Patrick Marber––a well-known luminary of the British theater scene––to pen a script packed with sharp, acerbic dialog. This, still, is not half-enough. In its quest to surprise audiences, The Critic jumps down too many rabbit holes, progressively losing all semblance of plausibility or insight it might’ve otherwise yielded.
The film is being billed as an adaptation of Anthony Quinn’s well-regarded novel Curtain Call, though one glance at the book summary indicates that significant liberties have been taken––notably, a murder-mystery strand has been entirely jettisoned. What we have instead is an interpersonal drama between several personalities either directly or tangentially related to the theater. Chief among...

Jules director Marc Turtletaub with Anne-Katrin Titze on Ben Kingsley: “This is not a way we’ve ever seen Sir Ben before.”
Marc Turtletaub’s otherworldly Jules, written by Gavin Steckler, shot by Christopher Norr and scored by Volker Bertelmann (Oscar for Best Original Score of Edward Berger’s All Quiet On The Western Front), stars Ben Kingsley with Harriet Sansom Harris, Jane Curtin, Zoë Winters, and Jade Quon as the title character. The first time I spoke with Marc Turtletaub he was with Kelly Macdonald, star of his Puzzle (screenplay co-written by Oren Moverman) at Sony Pictures Classics. His producer credits include Jeff Nichols’ Loving (based in part on Nancy Buirski's The Loving Story), Marielle Heller’s A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood, Davy Rothbart’s 17 Blocks, as executive producer Robin Wright’s Land, and an Oscar nomination for Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton’s Little Miss Sunshine.

Nicholas Maggio’s feature directorial debut, Mob Land, is a crime thriller in which two men rashly decide to pull off a robbery, frantically blunder their way through the job, and then face the devastating consequences of their actions. Sadly, the film itself is made with the same sort of overexcited energy, and the end result is similarly messy.

Running from August 20th to 26th, the 2023 Cleveland Open will offer a very competitive entry list for a Wta 250 tournament.
As the last tournament before the last major of the season, the 2023 Cleveland Open, also called the Tennis In the Land, attracts players that like to fine-tune their game before heading to Flushing Meadows. Last year, Liudmila Samsonova won the tournament, and the Russian will be back to defend her title in 2023.
In its first two years, the tournament showcased competitive matches and exciting clashes between high-ranked players. The success of the first two editions laid the foundation for future installments, attracting more high-profile players and increasing its significance on the Wta calendar.

Of all the movie references crammed into Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster “Barbie,” the most important is “The Matrix” because it serves as the foundational basis for Barbie’s (Margot Robbie) journey from the feminism of Barbie Land to the patriarchal “real world” of Century City and Venice.
That’s the moment, of course, when Weird Barbie (Kate McKinnon) offers Robbie’s Stereotypical Barbie the choice of maintaining the status quo with the pink heel or escaping to the real world in a Birkenstock to solve her existential crisis.
For production designer Sarah Greenwood and set decorator Katie Spencer (who have six Oscar nominations between them), Barbie Land was unknown territory. But it was instructive to have the contrast between Barbie Land and L.A. in the script by Gerwig and Noah Baumbach.

Alf is coming back to life. Ryan Reynolds has revived the ‘80s sitcom character for his Maximum Effort Channel, an offshoot of his advertising and marketing agency. Past episodes of the NBC sitcom will stream on the new channel and viewers will see new sponsored segments, called Maximum Moments, featuring the furry alien during the episodes.
Starring Paul Fusco, Max Wright, Anne Schedeen, Andrea Elson, and Benji Gregory, the 1986-90 series follows an alien life form (aka Alf) from Melmac who crash lands on Earth and lives with a suburban family. Following the cancellation, the outspoken cat-chasing alien (brought to life by puppeteer Fusco) has returned in a TV movie, a TV Land talk show, and various cameos.

Over a single weekend, 28-year-old Toronto resident Daniel Konikoff will experience two life-changing events. On July 23, he’s getting married. Two days before, he’s going to the movies with his bride-to-be and their entire wedding party for a double feature of Greta Gerwig’s very pink romp “Barbie” and Christopher Nolan’s extremely dark historical drama “Oppenheimer.”
“It stemmed from a joke, and then we started to actually create a plan,” Konikoff says. “So, the double bill is a little wedding-adjacent party.” As soon as the second movie lets out at 1 a.m. — “it’s bed!” he adds. “And then we drive to the venue. Music Box Films has acquired North American distribution rights to “Fremont,” Iranian/British Filmmaker Babak Jalali’s follow-up to “Land” and “Radio Dreams.” Jalali’s film, which premiered in the Sundance Film Festival’s Next section and later screened at the SXSW Film Festival, tells the story of Donya (played by real-life refugee Anaita Wali Zada), a mid-20s Afghan refugee wrestling with complicated feelings about her work as a translator for the U.S. military.
“Quiet, tender, and deeply human, ‘Fremont’ hails the arrival of a strikingly talented new performer in Anaita Wali Zada and loudly announces Jalali as a filmmaker whose ability to tell soulful stories with humor and grace demands attention,” states Music Box Films’ Brian Andreotti. “With an impressive launch out of Sundance and SXSW, we’re thrilled to continue momentum and open this film theatrically to a wider US audience later this year.”
