The scene of Stan singing about Francine's dream is reminiscent of the "What is a Baby?" song from Disney's Lady and the Tramp (1955). As is Roger's appearance as two Siamese cats in the same sequence.
Francine's subconscious version of Stan's jealous/insecure side, Stanferatu, is a based off Count Orlok, the main character from the German silent horror film Nosferatu (1922). Count Orlok is a vampire who wants to buy a new house in a different town and falls in love with and preys upon the wife of the estate agent helping him buy the home, when Orlok arrives in the town his new home is in he brings the plague with him killing the town's inhabitants. The film was a very loose adaptation of Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula".
Parsimony is defined as the reluctance to spend money unnecessarily and also the quality or characteristic of using the fewest resources or explanations to solve a problem.
