A film adaptation of the youth musical "Hype", featuring the same main actors and dancers. It combines dramatized segments with musical sequences. The original musical premiered at the Swedish Theatre (Swedish: Svenska Teatern) on January 22, 1994. The last performance was in June 3, 1995 after 213 sold-out performances. Hype was also shown on a selected concert and outdoor venues: at the Kaivopuisto park in Helsinki in June 4, 1994 (concert version), and three times at the Elysée Arena in Turku between April 21-22, 1995 (musical version). The farewell concert was held outside the Helsinki Olympic Stadium in August 25, 1995 during the Finland-Sweden Athletics International. Over 120 000 viewers saw the musical.
Actor Paavo Kerosuo missed the second to last performance at the Swedish Theatre in May 29, 1995. He applied and was selected to the Helsinki Theatre Academy.
