Omnibus: Getting to Dylan (1987)

This documentary made for the Omnibus show is actually a pretty good look at Bob Dylan as he was making the film HEARTS OF FIRE. The title of this episode is basically the reporter struggling to get an interview with Dylan. The early parts of the episode has some behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the movie as well as interviews with Dylan's director and co-star.

The reporter is finally able to get an interview and it turns out to be quite good. As is often the case, Dylan doesn't answer everything and he certainly handles the questions in his own ways but this is to be expected. He does get into some interesting topics including what fans expect out of him and he's also asked about his safety in relation to what happened to John Lennon. There's even some rather funny moments at the very end between Dylan and some fans who run into him in the street.

Fans of Dylan will certainly want to check this out since the interview is great plus it gives you a lot of footage from the making of the movie.
