As might be inferred from the title, this programme is made up of two distinct and totally unrelated documentaries. "The Hunter Homicides" concerns the murders of two men in Florida. The police were left clueless until a firearm turned up in a pawn shop, and this led by a convoluted trail to a prime suspect who was said to have been a born again Christian. Unfortunately, he appears to have been somewhat weak on numeracy, because he never got further than the 5th Commandment. He ended up committing suicide after a bizarre stand off in a police toilet.
"The Skulls Of Stanley Park" was more of an academic exercise than a crime investigation because of the vintage of the first two, but they turned out to be the skulls of two boys rather than of a boy and girl as long believed. Another, more recent skull was likewise that of a boy rather than of a girl.
Unfortunately, although this victim was positively identified, that is as far as the investigation progressed. However, the new DNA technology is now both well established and a fearsome weapon in the fight against crime, so unlike murderers from the 1950s, the slayers of today's children had better keep looking over their shoulders.
