An extremely shy man and a blind woman have an affair, which seems to be a blessing for both of them. But something unexpected happens.

This is a very intelligent short film, based on an original idea and with a plot that is well developed from the start all the way till the (surprising) ending. It makes the viewer wonder about the dark underside of many love relationships, an aspect the film manages to bring starkly to light by placing the two main characters under extraordinary circumstances (a painfully shy man and a beautiful blind woman). The resolution is as unexpected as it is smart. A fine job from the two leading actors and very skilled direction from Helio San Miguel. I strongly recommend this film and eagerly look forward to new features by this new and very promising director.

A tour of texture.
verdiz13 October 2007
The director of Blindness was drawing from a vast knowledge or understanding of textures true of life. Mr. SanMiguel reveals a color palette similar to the masters of light and color. The composition and placement of the settings of Blindness bring depth to the complex nature of the plot. Set in NYC the director travels throughout the different textures of the city. From the coldness of the subway system to the outdoor sculpture gardens Bliness is a journey with unexpected turns. This film brings art and life together for a jolt that awakens the senses. Blindness is a film that travels through the city streets and through the psyche of newly discovered love and loss.

Beneath the darkness there is tremendous light ,and truth is between

Beneath the darkness there is tremendous light, and truth is between the lines. Two characters who fall in love because the circumstances and characters are perfect for each. One is physically blind and relies on sound, touch and has a tremendous courage and love to experience life fully. The other is spiritually blind and relies on all his senses and need for the other's physical blindness to conceal his own fragility : his shyness, weak ego and shattered self esteem.

Their meeting is an opportunity for growth and love till circumstances change.

This film is very successful and deals with the human condition of these characters. The acting was excellent with great character development and arc. The directing seemed very generous in it's contribution to help explore the human condition of these characters. The music was sensitive and supportive of the delicate moments in this story. It literally moved me.

In short: BLINDNESS is a SUPERB ACHIEVEMENT!

I foresee they will get distribution for it in the near future.

I also hope to see more work from both of the actors and director.
