She finds Emerson's page on Allegra's laptop, and Allegra says that they got together after Emerson's band played and things didn't work out. The page says that Emerson is moping at Jitters the next night, and Frost insists that they can go there so she can get them back together.
Barry and Iris go to the restaurant, Giovanni's, and talks about how it's nice not to be having some crisis going on. Iris talks to the waiter in Italian, and Barry notes that she doesn't speak Italian. She claims that she picked up a phrase or two when writing an article on Little Italy.
Amunet steps out and calls out Saul Frankel, saying that she'll kill all the other customers if he doesn't. Saul steps forward and Amunet tells him to hand over the case. She grabs the case when he tries to struggle, knocks Saul out, and opens the case to reveal a device. Barry and Iris confront her and Barry flashes his badge and puts Amunet under arrest. Amunet points out that he's just a CSI, and Barry insists that he's still a cop. The villainess threatens to reveal Barry's secret identity if he doesn't let her go, and says that if she sees Flash or any of his friends coming after her, she'll reveal their secret identities.
The police secure the crime scene but find no trace of Amunet. Iris figures that Amunet is after something big and bad, and Barry complains that he just let Amunet walk out. He prepares to don his costume, and Iris suggests that they figure out where Amunet hangs out rather than risk her revealing everyone's secret identities.
The next day at Jitters, Allegra tells Frost that meeting with Emerson is a bad idea. Frost assures her that it's nothing and tells Allegra to be herself. Allegra turns around only to see another girl sitting with Emerson. They hug and chuckle, and Allegra tells Frost that it's a bad idea and she should never play life coach again before leaving.
That night, Barry and Iris go to one of Allegra's old hideouts, a pool hall. Iris says that she'll go in on her own and get the information out of the thugs as to Amunet's location. She goes in and the men all look at her. Iris orders whiskey at the bar and the bartender thinks she looks familiar Barry tells Iris to get out over their earbuds, and Iris asks about Amunet. The bartender, Lars, says that Iris doesn't seem like Amunet's type and motions to his bouncer. Iris knocks a bottle over the bouncer's head, and asks where he can find Amunet. Impressed, Lars writes down Amunet's location. Iris finishes her drink, takes the address, and goes back to the van Inside, Iris tells Barry that she was playing a role to get some information. Barry warns that it's reckless, but Iris says that she got the name of Amunet's next target: Ivo Labs.

Goldface comes in and says that he was looking for the device. Amunet tells Goldface--Keith--that he's too late, and Iris and Barry realize that they're not working together.
Goldface says that the device belongs to him, but Amunet isn't impressed. They argue about their breakup, and a security guard steps out and tells them at gunpoint to freeze. The two villains aren't impressed, and Goldface uses his gold chains to whip the case out of Amunet's hand. Amunet fires metal at Goldface, causing him to lose drop the case. A stray shot hits a giant heavy-metal ball, which rolls onto the guard. Barry speeds out, then come in and vibrates the guard clear of the ball.
Goldface grabs the case and walks out. Meanwhile, Barry tells the recovering guard that he lifted the ball with adrenaline and goes over to Iris. Iris says that both villains left, but she got what was inside the case.
The next day at the apartment, Barry returns from searching the town and says that both gangs are trading at6tacks because each thinks the other has the dev ice. Iris has checked with Joe and confirmed that the two gangs are attacking the others' stash houses. She figures that Amunet and Goldface are trying to hurt each other. Iris figures the fight is personal, and she called Ryan and discovered that the two devices are a UV projector and a biome simulated storage unit. If the two are combined it can be used to transplant plants. They don't know why the two villains are after the device, and Iris suggests that they get close to Amunet by giving her the device, then bringing her down from the inside.
Barry thinks that it's too dangerous, and Iris insists that she trusts her intuition. When Barry wonders why Iris is asking dangerous, Iris says that the changes are nothing. She tells Barry that she was following up on a lead, and insists that she doesn't need Barry to save her. While Barry was preoccupied with Crisis, she was planning to start a life without Barry because he asked her. Iris tells him that she can't be his damsel in distress anymore, and she deserves to be out in the field as a reporter. When Barry says that it doesn't feel like they're connecting, Iris says that she's grown as a person and is proud of herself, and wishes Barry felt the same way. With that, iris walks out.
Nash arrives at the office and finds Frost drinking. Frost realizes that he's looking for Allegra, and admits that she's drinking to forget how miserable she is. Nash pours himself a drink and Frost figures that no matter how good a person she tries to be, she can't do it. Nash tells her that she got lost and has to find new inroads with Allegra. He suggests that Allegra only sees things in absolutes, and Frost needs to show her that things aren't just black and white, and everything happens in the grays.
Allegra is in her hideout, throwing metal darts at a photo of Goldface. Iris comes in and says that she found her way there thanks to Lars. She holds up the second device and says that she wants in. Amunet doesn't believe Iris' change of face, and asks why. Iris explains that Rappacini's Daughter, a rather orchard, was recently shipped. It only blooms once every 25 years, and its pollen can be changed into a telepathic narcotic. Iris figures that Amunet plans to use it to get bank numbers, and she wants to use the pollen. She says that she's afraid all of the superheroing is ruining her marriage, and she can use the pollen to read Flash's mind.

He wonders if Iris has grown apart, and Joe says that they'll never grow apart.
Allegra is in her apartment drawing a heart when Frost comes in. Frost says that she's trying to pay what Ralph did for her forward, and invites Allegra to tell her what's going through her mind. Allegra talks about she met Emerson when she tried to lead a non-meta life. She ghosted him because she didn't want Emerson to find out she was a meta. Frost points out that Allegra never gave Emerson a chance, and her coming clean to Allegra might make her feel better. She tells Allegra that life happens in the grey, and Allegra needs to get out there and live life.

Amunet then leads Iris and her thugs to a case holding the Daughter. She explains that it can only survive in a carefully tended environment. She assembles the device, but Goldface and his men arrive and Goldface yanks the device away from Amunet. Iris backs away as Amunet summons a metal spear and attacks Goldface. Goldface twirls his chain and snags Amunet's spear
Iris hides and Flash arrives. He says that he'll risk anything to save Iris.
Amunet and Goldface argue about their relationship, while their thugs shoot at each other. Flash wraps up the thugs with plant vines, and then tells Amunet and Goldface that they were happy at first and asks why they broke up. Goldface says that Amunet wouldn't listen to him when he had issues, and Amunet says that she got tired of Goldface only coming to her to whine about his problems.
Goldface throws Flash away using his gold telekinesis powers, and Amunet pins Flash to a crate with her metal shards. While the two villains argue with each other, Flash vibrates himself free. Iris tells Barry to burn the flower, and he does so with a lightning bolt. The pollen envelops the two villains, who fall back in love with each other and realize they still love each other. Petals rain down and the villains kiss and make out, as flash and Iris look on in disgust. They then wish each other Happy Valentine's Day.
Later, Allegra meets Frost at Jitters and says that Emerson accepted her apology for ghosting him. It turns out that Emerson's drummer is a meta so he's fine with Allegra being a meta, and the two of them are back together. Allegra thanks Frost for her help, and Frost admits that a friend gave her some advice. Allegra says that the friend may not know her but gets her. Allegra goes over to sit with Emerson, and Nash arrives in response to Frost's invitation. Frost thanks Nash and says that his advice was parental, and says that if he wants to talk, she owes him one and she's a good listener. Once Frost leaves, Nash looks over at Allegra... and then turns to briefly see another Harrison in Jitters.
At the apartment, Barry apologizes to Iris for not seeing all of her successes. He says that she's made a name for herself, and he's proud of who she is and all of her accomplishments. Barry tells Iris that he felt for a moment like they were growing apart, and Iris assures him that they never will. They kiss and Iris looks at the mirror behind Barry. Inside the mirror, Iris pounds on the glass, sees everything in the real world, and yells that "Iris" isn't her.
