Isn't as good as the original game from 2003, but a well made Remake!

Since my last review on the old Ps2 version of the game I have played the Remake: Rehydrated.

First of all, the graphics are amazing, very nice changes were made to the character models and the game world. One of the changes I love the most is the dream world, looking more like an actual dream now, rather than a simple box.

As someone who has played the original game, I am amazed how well they have portrayed the nostalgic atmosphere of the first game. The only issues I have with the game are some of the lags and bugs, they aren't a big deal, but they destroy, the atmosphere. For example: in the original game, a hand would almost always come out and reach for the character model, in this version the death screen is just a dark grey screen or some bubbles. The bubbles and the hand were always a part of the death sequences. The hand seems to glitch out sometimes and most of the time it doesn't even reach SpongeBob/Patrick/Sandy, before changing into the death screen and letting you respawn. The long awaited multi-player could have been handled much better and they could have added a co-op campaign. The multi-player we have is repetitive and boring. (I love how they added 4 new characters for the multiplayer tho)

Overall they could have tested the bugs more. Lovely map and simple for kids, not as great as the original but close.

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: Rehydrated: If Nautical nonsense be something you wish...

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS: Rehydrated was a fun remake. While it's been years since I've played the original, this game has certainly sat well with me lately and was pretty enjoyable and offered plenty nostalgic vibes to say the least. The updated graphics and character renders were really nice, made the game much more visually appealing. The music and sound effects all sounded very adequately Sponge-bobby. The story and quests were very enjoyable too and full of Sponge-bobby humor that many fans of all ages have grown to know and love.

Overall, this game makes for a great, relaxing break for in between those larger, darker games. It has plenty to keep you busy, lots of areas to explore, missions to do, side missions and collectables. And it's very bubbly and lighthearted. While it's not overly challenging, the difficulty does gradually increase as the game goes on. All around a very fun game.

Still as awesome as I remember

So I've noticed this game has been getting more hate than it deserves. Sure some parts may be "buggy" and "unpolished" but they can be fixed in the future by patches. We should be greatful that a passionate company took time to beautifully remaster one of our all time favorite games. Ignore the reviews from "game websites" like IGN, they don't know what they're talking about!

Playing this game for the first time in 17 years has truly rehydrated my thirst for fun licensed platform games! I can't give it any less of a rating as I would of when I was 3 years old as it's still just as fun! 10/10 golden spatulas
