The film was shot in nine days with a budget of less than 10,000 Dollars.
The original running time of the film was 104 minutes, but it was cut down to 90 minutes for pacing concerns.
The film was designed to be a tribute to Gothic art and the Ghost story genre (film and literature), thus all the characters in the film are named after authors and directors of Ghost stories. Jane Jackson is named after Shirley Jackson, author of The Haunting, Carl Wise was named after director Robert Wise, director of the film adaptation of The Haunting, and Henry Wingrave is named after Henry James and the title character of James' ghost story Owen Wingrave.
The film was the first English-language independent feature film to be produced in Egypt.
