Finding on Easter Monday that Grimmfest was to end later in the day,I decided to start the final day of viewing, by watching a short that goes supernova.

View on the film:

Taking place in one room with just a single cast member, (played with a fitting urgency by Kelly Kula) writer/director David McAbee subtly records the scientists final moments with excellent special effects, whose viability McAbee increases with each arc shot round the dying scientist.

Attempting to make a final recording to warn humanity, the screenplay by McAbee breaks the tape with a nifty Sci-Fi twist ending,as the end of the world goes nova.

I won't give away ANY spoilers on this project .... none!

Do yourselves a favour and if you see this short playing at a festival, WATCH IT!

David and his team have put together one of the most well crafted shorts I have seen in a long time.

You are TRULY left wanting for more.

Well crafted and executed on all levels of film making, this is a team that is truly at the top of their game when they all came together to make this film.

I can't wait to know what's happening next.

Well done team, well done

Excellent. Marvelous. Superb. Exceptional. Exemplary.

Flashing lights. Blaring alarms. Creeping, unsettling music by composer Stevie Burton, dancing on the edges - keeping us on edge. Fantastic, vivid sound design. Outstanding makeup and subtly shifting effects. A visceral, emotionally pained, phenomenal performance by star Kelly Kula as a camera slowly revolves around her with the appearance of a single continuous shot - allowing the visualization of protagonist Nova's experience to seem entirely organic, and emphasizing the rapid pace of development. As both writer and director, filmmaker David McAbee has crafted a perfect, chilling, electrifying horror short. It's not even 8 minutes long, and it has no need to be anything more than it is as our imaginations run wild.

'Nova' is exquisite. Watch it.

a warning

A well crafted warning, mixing old, profound fears, good special effects, a powerful story and the testimony of the effects, terrible effects of an experiment. A story about humanity, in profound inspired manner, in which every detail is wise used.
