Farewell Thomas Chamberlain, you will be missed. Superb story and acting. So sad to see the departure of Richard Lintern(Thomas Chamberlain). An truly great story arc.

One of the best. Scary and relevant.

The Greater Good rates as one of the best stories they have ever done, the first part was awesome, this was even better. Basically it's a battle to save Jack's life.

An emotional rollercoaster, this episode was dramatic, intense, gripping and tugged at the heart strings. This was a powerful 60 minutes of drama, very powerful.

Thomas hasn't been my favourite character since his arrival, but he was given a classic here.

I think this had even more of impact with all that's going on in the world right now, the tragedy surrounding the coronavirus. This was pretty scary.

The best for years, and they've confirmed two more series. Television at its absolute best. 10/10

An Annual Treat

The last episode of this series was just brilliant. I got into this series late - last three years perhaps, but it is one of the best series on TV. There are some moments when you think 'well. that wouldn't really happen', but that's a very minor quibble. Everything about the programme is so engaging you are immediately drawn in to the situation. The scenarios are always dramatic and realistic and the cast are superb and gel very well together. This programme is such a welcome relief from the multitude of 'dumb down' programmes and completely unfunny panel shows. Long may it continue and lucky me; I've got the early series' to catch up on when I can.

Second Outstanding Story in a Row
retina_scan23 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
After a pretty medicore start of the season, and even if the last two-three seasons have not been the best, SW gave us two of their best stories ever, one after the other. After 'Hope', 'The Greater Good' was superb, more epic and action-packed. How will this imagery have seemed to audiences watching this live at the start of the pandemic.

In a way, again, you could see that coming - show someone's birthday, happy scene with daugher flying the kite: you know something bad's on the way. But quite frankly for a short while I thought they were getting rid of all regular characters, start with a clean slate. But unfortunately Nikki Alexander survived again. I'm sorry to see Clarissa go, I thought the fact that she announced her departure at the beginning of the two-parter meant that her experience of the story will make her reconsider, but it doesn't seem to have been the case.

No pathologist worth his salt...

Warning: Spoilers
My wife and I have only fairly recently begun to watch Silent Witness and despite some of the usual "Hollywood" dumbing down of the realities of police work we find it to mostly be a gripping, enjoyable series. Liz Carr as Clarissa Mullery in particular brings a level of sophistication to the show.

But what in the world were the writers thinking when in The Greater Good (S23 E10) they had Dr. Thomas Chamberlain uncap a toxic chemical vial out on the open workbench instead of in a fume hood? Goes completely against all safety protocols in any lab. Major writing mistake, made the whole episode unbelievable and totally blew all the angst over the tragic results. Couldn't they have had him make some more believable mistake like dropping the vial or something? Ye gods.
