The Romero families directorial legacy continues with son following in his father’s footsteps. G. Cameron Romero (“Staunton Hill”), son of George A. Romero (“Night of the Living Dead”) announced today that he has launched his campaign on Indiegogo, for Origins, the genesis story of the first Romero zombie in his father’s iconic masterpiece Night Of The Living Dead, with a goal of $150,000 for pre-production costs.
Set in the turbulent late sixties, the film tells the story of a brilliant scientist – Dr. Alan Cartwright – who strikes a deal with the military that will give him all the resources he needs to finalize his work in exchange for what he later learns is a price all mankind will have to pay.

Huddled in front of the TV one night in the late ’60’s, a group of survivors listened to different theories as to why the dead were walking around outside with an appetite for human flesh. Such was the chilling plot of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead and now, 46 years later, his son Cameron wants to show how the zombie uprising began with Origins, a crowdfunded prequel to the horror classic.

Following in his father George's footsteps, director Cameron Romero is a filmmaker with something to say; and in the new trailer for his latest film, Radical, that he sent exclusively our way, his message is loud and frighteningly clear.
Radical centers on the story of three members of the American press being held captive by a calculating terrorist who taunts the Us government with his arrogance and technological savvy.
The isolation piece stars Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan, Heat), Ford Austin (Dahmer vs. Gacy, The Auctioneers), Josh Carmichael, Shahe Assilian and Bj Hendricks (The Great Buck Howard, Staunton Hill) and marks a reunion for many cast members who have worked with Romero in the past.
"This is the real horror that people go through every day around the world, and the media always seem to cover it from a higher place or a conceptual level," Romero told us. "I think...

The year is 1969 (supposedly). A group of friends traveling to a rally in Washington, D.C. hitch a ride with a nice enough fellow they meet up with at a run down gas station. However, a few miles along their journey, the fellow's car breaks down, causing the group to have to hike through the hills in search of shelter and help. They happen upon an isolated farmhouse, which at first seems abandoned. They take it upon themselves to camp out in the barn for the night, only to be greeted by the Stauton family in the morning. This odd bunch consists of the the mother, grandmother, and a mentally challenged adult boy. At first, the family is nice (except the boy, who takes a hammer to one of the traveler's face for saying Hi to him...

After a few films, many feel as if Cameron Romero won’t step out of his father’s large horror shadow. Yes, his father is George A. Romero, but that’s unfair to Cameron. His latest has a plot synopsis and an official one-sheet. This could be an interesting film. Radical is the story of three members of the American press being held captive by a calculating terrorist who taunts the Us government with his arrogance and technological savvy.
The film stars Tom Sizemore and showcases a different take on horror than Romero’s previous film in Staunton Hill, as he tells Dread Central. “This is the real horror that people go through every day around the world, and the media always seem to cover it from a higher place or a conceptual level. I think it’s because it seems unbearable to think about individuals who go through horrible...

We were pretty impressed with Cameron (son of George A.) Romero's initial film, Staunton Hill, and since that flick's release we've been waiting to see what else the director has up his sleeve. Well, the cat's now out of the proverbial bag!
According to Cameron Romero on Twitter, filming has just wrapped on his next project, Radical, which tells the tale of three American journalists who are captured and held captive by an attention-starved lunatic who's looking for fame for the many atrocities he's committed while in the Middle East.
Tom Sizemore, Josh Carmichael, Shahe Assillian, Ford Austin and Bj Hendricks star. Though pretty bare bones right now, keep your eye on the official Radical website, which has the film pegged for a March 2011 release.

Rest your wallets, folks, there are hardly any new major horror releases this week. Instead we're getting mostly re-released Blu-ray and 3D Blu-rays. Really the only thing that's piquing our curiosity is RoboGeisha!

As his father continues to attempt to rejuvenate his seemingly never-ending “Dead” series, Cameron Romero follows up his debut “The Screening” with another slice of familiar horror in “Staunton Hill”. Although this may sound a little cynical, the film really is pretty basic stuff, being a by the numbers “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” knock off, with youngsters being chased and killed by psychotic rednecks in the rural backwoods. Still, Romero shows himself to be a better director than most, and the film benefits from a decent cast of half recognisable faces, if not names, including Cristen Coppen (“Road Trip”), David Rountree (“XXX2”, and who also scripted), Kiko Ellsworth (from the television series “Heroes” and “Dexter”) and Charlie Bodin (briefly in “Transformer”). The plot is familiar to say the least, set in Virginia in the autumn of 1969 and following five student types who are hitchhiking their way across country to the political rallies taking place in Washington.

Already released October 6, 2009 Anchor Bay Entertainments blood-thristy "Staunton Hill" can be found on DVD with a gorey trailer now available. Very much in the horror realm "Staunton Hill" is directed by George A. Romero's son Cameron Romero and despite a straight-to-dvd release much more will be heard from this director once this film gets a wider audience. Check out the trailer for Romero's "Staunton Hill" inside.
A synopsis for "Staunton Hill" can be found here:
"When a group of hikers take off for a weekend of fun and adventure in a remote mountain region, they unwittingly stumble across the Staunton family, for whom the hill is named, and find themselves at the mercy of a depraved, diabolical brood that will stop at nothing to rid their property of these "trespassers." The only law on Staunton's Hill is the law of the Stauntons...and, in this case, the penalty for defying that law is death.

If you're of the mind to believe George Romero, Staunton Hill is about as scary a movie as you're apt to find. Then again, I suppose any father would provide a blurb to their son's DVD case trying to convince you to buy it. Except for me. When I have a kid and he makes a bad movie, he can have a quote, which I will borrow from Jay Sherman: It stinks! Staunton Hill is directed by Cameron Romero, son of George, and it takes the tried and true Texas Chainsaw Massacre formula, takes out the scares, the frightening villain, the brutality, and pretty much anything else that makes it good or interesting. Now, this film isn't gouge your eyes out terrible, no, but it is fall asleep on the couch boring. Which is unfortunate because if you do, you'll miss one good gore scene. But then you could go back to sleep. Any...

Have you seen The Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Either the 1974 Tobe Hooper original or the 2003 remake? Then you’ve seen Anchor Bay’s new-to-dvd Staunton Hill. Except it’s nowhere near as good as the trailblazing former or surprising, way-better-than-expected remake. In fact, while watching this flick, I said to myself, “Hey, that crazy, corpulent redneck woman reminds me of that crazy, corpulent redneck woman from the Texas Chainsaw remake and its prequel.” And—surprise! surprise!—when I checked out the actors’ names and credits, I discovered that the crazy, corpulent redneck woman in Staunton Hill actually is the same crazy, corpulent redneck woman from the Texas Chainsaw remake and its prequel: Kathy Lamkin.
That’s not the only familiar and imitative element of Staunton Hill, the second film from director Cameron Romero (Guess who his daddy is? Hint: It’s not James Cameron). The movie takes place in Virginia, 1969, as...

With Halloween right around the corner we've got a ton of very different and very awesome scare flicks streeting this week. For one, we've got Lionsgate's Ghost House Underground Boxed Set which comes at us form Sam Raimi's banner.
