Back on track.

Lara's vigil is set to go ahead, John fires out some warning shots, demanding that Mandy and Miri stay away. Miri accompanies Billy to a party, turns out it's a birthday celebration for his mother Gaia.

Well and truly back on track, this was very good, we learn more about John, we see exactly what he's about.

There are a couple of funny moments, the best if course coming at Gaia's party, that's what drinking after a period of absence can do.

How well is Meera Syal ageing, one of Britain's finest, she's brilliant, and doesn't seem to change, she has some real presence.

I'm struck by Miri's humanity once again, even all that's happened, and all that's been done to her, she can't help but hold out a helping hand to Mandy, we also learn how she behaved in prison.

8/10.

Episode 2.3

John Boback is more than just a bereaved parent. He is very much being built up as the villain of the second series.

Miri thinks he is the one who tried to run her over. Mandy is wary of John as well. His fondness for young girls such as Mandy when she was younger.

Miri knows she will get no joy from the police. Instead she decides to attend a party with Billy. His mother's birthday party where she inadvertently stands up for Billy.

The second series is even more of a dramedy than the first series. Any comedy there is comes from Janice whose scenes are brief. I think in this episode she phoned it in.
