In the face of ever-declining DVD sales, Netflix has quickly become the foremost place to discover new stand-up material. The streaming giant is on track to release over 50 exclusive specials in 2017 alone, signing big names (with big cheques) from both sides of the Atlantic and beyond.

Talk about performance anxiety.
Both on- and off-screen, this week’s episode of Outlander has a daunting charge: Bring to life the scene fans of Diana Gabaldon’s books have spent years waiting to see — Jamie and Claire’s reunion in Alexander Malcolm’s print shop — and do it perfectly.
The Frasers’ first hours together in decades have to be fraught, but not depressing. They have to be romantic, but not syrupy. And above all, they have to be sexy — Jamie and his Sassenach do, after all, spend a...

Update: Sony has now released the official cast list for the film, confirming Connelly’s involvement.
Spider-Man: Homecoming has one of the most impressive casts of any movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far. The credits list is full of exciting names, including Robert Downey Jr., Michael Keaton, Marisa Tomei, Donald Glover and Jon Favreau. And that’s not even mentioning all the young and upcoming stars, like Zendaya, Laura Harrier, Angourie Rice and obviously, Tom Holland. Even in this late stage, however, just two weeks before the movie hits theatres, we might have just found out that another big name is set to appear.
Now that press screenings for Homecoming have begun, more and more details about are starting to leak out and earlier today, some eagle-eyed fans noticed that IMDb now lists Jennifer Connelly as appearing in the film. The movie database credits the actress in the role of ‘Karen/Suit Lady.’
In case you don’t know, IMDb can literally be edited by anyone, so we have to be wary of accepting this at face value. After all, this is the first time we’ve heard of the actress being attached to the production. However, going by the character credit, it sounds like the site’s saying she only has a cameo part in the film. As such, this small a role could possibly have slipped through the net and gone unnoticed by the media.
If this turns out to be true, Homecoming will mark Connelly’s third role in a comic book movie. Back in 1991, she appeared in The Rocketeer as the titular jetpacked hero’s girlfriend Jenny. Then in 2003, she starred as Betty Ross in Ang Lee’s Hulk.
It looks like we’ll have to wait until the film opens to see if this rumour holds any weight, but thankfully, there’s not too much longer to go now, as Spider-Man: Homecoming arrives on July 7th.

We've been talking about the proposed 3D remake of Apartment 1303 for nearly a year now, and word has finally come that principal photography began on the film in Montreal last week!
Mischa Barton (Homecoming, Walled In, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (Mother's Day, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), John Diehl (Stargate, Jurassic Park III), Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Robert Blanche ("Crash," "Ghost Whisperer") all star.

Apartment 1303 is white, bright and airy with a sheer white curtain blowing from the wind off the balcony and is on the 13th floor of a large building. The view onto the sea is breathtaking, but the history of the apartment is shocking. A number of young women have committed suicide by jumping off the balcony, and it is now about to happen again!

I didn't know that. I have kind-of been ignoring synopses of the movie, and today the latest trailer, posted by Bousman himself, is online. The film directed by Matt Orlando also stars Michael Clarke Duncan (The Island, Planet of the Apes, The Green Mile) and Mischa Barton (Homecoming, The Sixth Sense).
Duncan plays a principal, Barton is a guidance counselor, and Sawa is a local police officer. Other than that, details are slim, but Pittsburgh Live states that it's a "whodunit" that takes place in a school.

Some casting news came in from the Internet Movie Database today for Daniel Fridell's upcoming 3D (of course) remake of the overseas spooker Apartment 1303, and we've got the skinny for you right here.
As always, we're working to confirm this so take the following announcement as more of a rumor until we do, but it appears as if Mischa Barton (pictured below; Homecoming, Walled In, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (Mother's Day, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), John Diehl (Stargate, Jurassic Park III), Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Robert Blanche ("Crash," "Ghost Whisperer") have all been cast.
Dig on the synopsis for the original Japanese film below, and look for more soon!
Apartment 1303 is white, bright and airy with a sheer white curtain blowing from the wind off the balcony and is on the 13th floor of a large building. The view onto the sea is breathtaking,...

Apparently Daniel Fridell's 3-D remake of Apartment 1303 is already casting up. The untrustworthy IMDb reports that Mischa Barton (Homecoming, Walled In, The Sixth Sense), Rebecca De Mornay (Mother's Day, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle), John Diehl (Stargate, Jurassic Park III), Julianne Michelle (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), and Robert Blanche ("Crash," "Ghost Whisperer") have all be cast, although this should be considered Rumor until otherwise reported. Penned by Kei Ohishi and Michele Taverna, the pic is a modern ghost story which turns a love/hate relationship between mother and daughter into a tale of horror. Some rentals are too good to be true.

Ever since the original Final Destination, actor Devon Sawa has continued to dabble within the horror genre by appearing in such films as Devil's Den and more recently landing a gig in 388 Arletta Avenue :). He's not stopping there, though, as word of his next project, Sibling, has hit the interwebs.
According to Pittsburgh Live, the film directed by Matt Orlando also stars Michael Clarke Duncan (The Island, Planet of the Apes, The Green Mile) and Mischa Barton (Homecoming, The Sixth Sense).
Duncan, who arrived Monday in Pittsburgh for the shoot, plays a principal. Barton is a guidance counselor, and Sawa is a local police officer. Other than that, details are slim, but Pittsburgh Live states that it's a "whodunit" that takes place in a school. Silbing is looking to wrap filming around Christmas.

Back in July of last year, Mischa Barton ("The Oc") was taken away by police and hospitalized under California's involuntary psychiatric-hold law just hours before she was to attend the premiere of her "Homecoming" movie. Under Section 5150 of the law, authorities can hold a person for up to 72 hours if they present a danger to themselves or to others. And these authorities were fearful that the actress would have been dead within 24 hours. Now, Barton has opened up about the incident: "I had this terrible surgery to remove my wisdom teeth and it drove me mad. I had infections and I couldn.t eat anything except Slush Puppies for three months and I can't tell you how awful it was. Anyway, I had enough and I went to the hospital. I was in a lot of pain and if they feel you are depressed or a danger to yourself they...

The 1977 cult classic Kingdom of the Spiders , directed by John Cardos, is getting a modern overhaul. And, of course, it will happen in 3D. (Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't remade Arachnophobia in 3D yet.) Screen Daily reports the UK-based Stealth Media Group will shepherd the project which tells of a town overrun by thousands of migrating tarantulas. Nuala Barton ( Homecoming ) and Rene Sheridan are set to produce. William Shatner starred in the original film, now available on DVD in a special edition.

When it comes to picking a psychotic ex-girlfriend, you could probably do a lot worse than having Mischa Barton on your case. That is the premises for this film, where the actress famed for playing a butter wouldn’t melt type in The Oc discovers her mean side, taking on the role of a jilted ex who is overcome by jealousy when she meets her old flame’s new lover – a pretty rich girl who is everything she wants to be. The boyfriend in question is Mike Donaldson (Matt Long), a successful football player who returns home in his university break with his new girlfriend in tow (90210’s Jessica Stroup). Having always held a candle for him while he has been away at university, Barton’s character, Shelby Mercer, is both shocked and saddened that her former beau hasn’t waited for her while he has been away. Rather than...

Homecoming (DVD)Paramount Home ENTERTAINMENT2009/Rated R/88 Minsnow Available – List Price: $22.98They say actors find enjoyment in playing villains and watching TV star Mischa Barton play the crazed ex of a High School star quarterback, there's no doubt that she's enjoying herself. Despite her real life troubles, Barton is no pretty face who lucked out and landed a hit TV series. The girl can act. Making an impression as the young specter who reveals to Haley Joel Osment evidence of how she perished in The Sixth Sense, Barton worked her way through small indie films, before landing the role of a lifetime as Marissa Cooper on The O.C. Once she decided to exit that show, it wasn't long before viewership declined, proving she was its driving force. After working with Sir Richard Attenborough on the WWII drama Closing the Ring, Barton embraced her British roots by perfecting her acting skills...

With Morgan J. Freeman’s Homecoming hacking its way onto DVD today (courtesy of Paramount Pictures), we here at Dread Central thought it a perfect occasion to take a look back at our favorite on-screen axe murderers as a way of indoctrinating this new blood into the mix.
10. Gaear Grimsrud (Peter Stormare) – Fargo (1996)
Grimsrud may not be an axe murderer per se, but you’ve got to respect the way in which this guy chooses to solve problems. After an irreparable altercation with his partner in crime, Grimsrud puts his conflict resolution skills to good use courtesy of a hatchet and a woodchipper.
9. Lisa (Leslie Lee) – Lisa, Lisa (1977)
Known to some as The California Axe Massacre, that title is a bit over-compensatory considering only one victim bites it via the edge of an axe. Leslie Lee makes for a superior on-screen psychopath in this demented little quickie from the drive-in era,...

Paramount Home Entertainment’s thriller Homecoming is coming to DVD on April 20th, and Mischa Barton recently took some time for an interview focusing on the thriller. Already becoming something of a cult favorite in a certain horror niche, the film is definitely wild, and Barton is unquestionably outside her usual realm. A former small-town golden boy (Matt Long) and his new girlfriend (Jessica Stroup) come back to visit his hometown and discover his high school sweetheart (Mischa Barton) has developed an unhealthy obsession with him. His ex-girlfriend’s desperation slowly but surely becomes apparent, and all hell breaks loose as she does everything it takes to get him back. It's a small bit, but have fun, and catch some clips below. Q: In Homecoming, you play “Shelby,” a young woman who develops an unhealthy obsession with her ex-boyfriend. What attracted you to the role? A: Though I’ve done my share of thrillers,...

In this recent interview, Mischa Barton, 24, discusses her starring role as “Shelbyâ€. in Paramount Home Entertainment’s thriller Homecoming on DVD on April 20th.
Q: In Homecoming, you play “Shelby,â€. a young woman who develops an unhealthy obsession with her ex-boyfriend. What attracted you to the role?
A: Though I’ve done my share of thrillers, I was attracted to the script and the character because I’d previously been on the receiving end of crazy rather than actually portraying it, so it was a lot of fun embracing Shelby’s warped perspective.
Q: Homecoming has been described as “Misery for Teens.â€. Had you seen Kathy Bates’s performance in Misery prior to shooting? What was your inspiration and how did you prepare for the role?
A: Kathy Bates is a phenomenal actress and I found her performance inspiring well in advance of reading the Homecoming script.

No one is more shocked than Mike's homecoming queen ex-girlfriend, Shelby, who immediately wants to be rid of Elizabeth and plots to take care of the problem. This week's DVD and Blu-ray releases hit shelves on 4/20, and you know what that means -- a new re-release of Reefer Madness in honor of its upcoming 75th anniversary! Along with that hilarious propaganda flick we have a plentiful assortment of more serious films that are sure to appeal to DC readers.
First up is Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones, which a lot of us missed during its brief limited theatrical run. Looking for something a little more "classic"? How about 1983's House of the Long Shadows starring the holy horror triumvirate of Vincent Price, Christopher Lee, and Peter Cushing with Desi Arnaz, Jr., and John Carradine in supporting roles? Does it get much better than that?
Less classic, but hopefully cheesy fun are the likes of Neowolf (briefly called The Band from Hell if you're looking for Foy's review), Mischa Barton's Homecoming, Braincell, Surviving Crooked Lake, The...
