Charley McCarthy was no dummy
boblipton15 July 2010
This Screen Snapshots is a pretty good wartime entry in the star-studded series as Janet Blair shows off her excellent singing voice with "The Air Force Song" and Jimmy Stewart -- who was an honest-to-life war hero who made it up through the ranks into the top brass of the Reserve after the war -- defends Charley McCarthy against the charges of being in two branches of the service and going AWOL.

Stewart is obviously having a good time and keeps cracking up as McCarthy bickers and lies his way through the short. This is a useful, entertaining flag waver showing that even Hollywood stars were busy doing their parts. Even if they were little boys made out of wood.
