Power Trip‘s 2019 tour supporting High on Fire was one of their last outings before the tragic passing of frontman Riley Gale.
Heavy Consequence attended one of the final dates on that tour, a late November show in Brooklyn, and got to witness the captivating power Gale possessed onstage. Less than a year later, Gale died at the young age of 34.

During our recent interview with High on Fire, we asked Matt Pike and company what it was like touring with Gale and Power Trip. Not only did they sing the highest of praises, but they also would be more than willing to play some shows with the freshly reunited Power Trip.
“Riley was a one of a kind dude — he was a Bon Scott of punk rock,” said Pike, referencing the late AC/DC icon. “And I thought he was a little shit...

The Real Housewives of New York City Legacy season will be a throwback to “Scary Island” according to Sonja Morgan and Luann de Lesseps.
During a press tour for their new show Welcome to Crappie Lake, the duo hinted about the Rhony spinoff that features many of the OGs and cast members who were present at the trip they ultimately called “Scary Island.” This time the cast travels to St. Barts for Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Rhony Legacy.
‘Rhony: Legacy’ became Scary Island II
De Lesseps teased a room-choosing debacle that involved Ramona Singer (shocking). Morgan and Singer shared a room which de Lesseps said worked out. “I mean, you know, it was good because there actually was one room short, so it was good that these two stayed together. And I got my own private bungalow,” de Lesseps said on the Mention It All podcast.

Get ready for a great time when the acclaimed horror-comedy The Blackening releases in theaters on June 16, 2023, just in time for Juneteenth.
The Blackening “centers around a group of Black friends who reunite for a Juneteenth weekend getaway only to find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. Forced to play by his rules, the friends soon realize this ain’t no motherf****** game.”
Directed by Tim Story (Ride Along, Think Like a Man, Barbershop) with screenplay and screen story by producer Tracy Oliver (Girls Trip, Harlem) & Dewayne Perkins (The Amber Ruffin Show, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), the horror-comedy infectiously subverts horror tropes, beginning with the central question, “if the entire cast of a horror movie is Black, who dies first?”
Joe Lipsett wrote in his 4-star TIFF review, “The humour is successful, the violence is fun and frequently cheeky, and the characters are loveable,” Joe’s review for Bd continues.

At Annecy with four features, including buzzy main competition entry “Mars Express,” Strasbourg-based Amopix will create a second studio, Amopix Annecy, located in the Route des Creuses to the west of Annecy.
The move comes as Amopix, the animation studio behind Cannes’ Directors’ Fortnight title “Margarethe 89,” produced by Eddy, is embarking on some 10 new titles, either as an animation studio or producer or both, including Louis Clichy’s “Le Corset” and “Shalotte, an Onion for All Cases,” a TV series produced in international co-production, a potential growth axis, Amopix founder Mathieu Rolin told Variety.
Reasons for setting up in Annecy cut several ways: the location, which is highly attractive thanks to its exceptional geographical position and the presence in Annecy of the world’s biggest animation festival.
Public sector policies, implemented by Citia, behind the Annecy Intl. Film Animation Festival, are backing the development of a local animation sector with dedicated incentives.

A Juneteenth weekend getway turns into a deadly game for survival in the new horror comedy The Blackening, arriving in theaters on June 16th from Lionsgate, and I had a chance to catch up with director Tim Story, who told me all about his horror influences, casting, and his on-set experience:

When Ohio-born rapper Trippie Redd first burst onto the scene in 2017, Donald J. Trump was about to start his first presidential term, Juice Wrld and XXXTentacion were alive, and SoundCloud rap was the new transgressive genre making waves. Back then, Redd contributed to the urgent-sounding genre with his first commercial mixtape, A Love Letter to You. A Love Letter to You was Soundcloud rap, but it also strategized Redd’s rapping ability, first and foremost; songs would be showcases. “Can You Rap Like This?” is a boom bap song, reminding...

In news that probably surprises no one, a show starring two of the biggest-name stars in Hollywood that was created by one of television's most prolific producers has just been renewed. Yep, "1923" will be back for a second season according to The Hollywood Reporter, bringing Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren back for more ranch-set drama.
The news here is a no-brainer given both the draw of Mirren and Ford (the latter of which had never had a main role on TV before this) as well as series creator Taylor Sheridan's pull in the industry. At this point, Sheridan has a catalog of five Paramount shows recently or currently on air and several more in the works. The flagship series "Yellowstone," now in its fifth season, spun off into both "1883" and "1923."
According to THR, "1923" scored the highest-rated series premiere on cable last year, as the show...

On March 15, a day after she presented at the Grammy Awards, the singer posted a heartfelt message on her Instagram page that delved into her complicated past with mental health and her coping mechanisms.
"I've spent most of my life being extremely sensitive, drained and nervous when around a lot of people and/or multiple energies at once," she said, referring to her time onstage during Sunday's ceremony. "I've spent most of my life with crippling insecurity... feeling awkward and shy in front of cameras and audiences. I've spent most of my life not understanding that my anxiety was causing a downward spiral, self medicating and self sabotage."
