Demons Rising Although most indie horror cinema tends to be of the found footage variety, making the most out of limited resources with modest ambition, occasionally film makers try something a little bolder. That’s certainly the case with “Demons Rising” from writer director William Lee (“Dark Target”, “Code Black”), which attempts to mix horror, action, martial arts, detective mystery and more. The film isn’t short of ideas, revolving around a heretic book called The Liber Malorum that has the power to raise the dead, and which a diverse cast of characters are all trying to get their hands one, resulting in heists, murders, occult conspiracies, and of course, demons. Sadly, for all its noble aspirations, “Demons Rising” is a real misfire, and though Lee obviously put a lot of work and thought into the film, its various elements never amount to anything more than boredom.
