The Light That Burns: Remembering Jordan Cronenweth (2007)
**** (out of 4)
Ridley Scott, Paul Sammon, Richard Hart, Ernest Holzman, Steven Poster and Lawrence G. Paull are just a few of the people who pay tribute to cinematographer Jordan Cronenweth. This featurette takes a look at the work he did on BLADE RUNNER so we mainly get stories about the production of that picture and the various tricks that Cronenweth did to make sure the film had a look unlike any other movie ever made. We hear about various tricks that he used behind-the-scenes and how a difficult job it is to try and get your vision onto the screen when there's also a director there. We get to hear from various friends and even his son Jeff who all talk about their fondest memories. This includes a terrific bit on how kind Cronenweth was and how he was never afraid to share his secrets and be willing to help anyone who had questions about the job. This is a great tribute to the man who passed away in 1996 because it really gives him a lot of credit for the work he did behind the camera but it also pays tribute to the type of person that he was.
