To 'Sir'...a wife!
ShadeGrenade16 November 2013
Warning: Spoilers
It is 'Bernard Hedges' ( John Alderton ) big day. He is to be married to the gorgeous 'Penny Wheeler' ( Jill Kerman ). But things go wrong from the start. Firstly, he wakes up in bed the worse for drink with the best man - 'Price' ( Richard Davies ) - and Chief Usher 'Potter' ( Deryck Guyler ) has sent Sharon ( Penny Spencer ) and Maureen ( Liz Gebhardt ) to the wrong place with the wedding dress. He drives the girls to Penny's flat, but in so doing, leaves the groom and best man without any transport. With the clock ticking away, they turn up at the church on a tandem!

It is perfectly obvious in retrospect that 'And Everyone Came Too!' should have been the very last television 'Please Sir!' of all. There would, alas, be a fourth series, with Alderton bowing out after only two instalments and the original 5C being replaced by a bunch of unlikeable hoodlums. Here we get the original cast together one last time. Penny Spencer would soon be fired for asking for a pay-rise and replaced in the movie ( and spin-off series 'The Fenn Street Gang' ) by Carol Hawkins. We do not get to see the wedding itself. Potter forgets to bring along his wife. Maureen is predictably distraught at losing 'Sir' to Penny.

Funniest moment - Penny and Hedges tell everyone they are going to Portugal on honeymoon, but instead they attempt to book a room at a small country hotel. All the rooms have been taken, forcing them to bed down in the big hall. Snow has blocked all the roads and the ex-5C and Fenn Street teachers cannot drive back to London. The end credits are played over a shot of them all bedded down in a huddled mass!
