The fifth series saw a rise in the viewing figures of Little and Large, with an average of 12.05 million tuning in. Although the BBC wasn't able to compete with ITV's ratings at this time, four of the six episodes made the BBC1 Top Ten.
Eddie impersonates all of the Roly Polys using split screen. The actual dance troupe would appear the following year in Episode #6.2 (1986).
The song performed by Jack Jones, "Leave A Tender Moment Alone", was a 1984 hit single for Billy Joel. A double A-Side with Goodnight Saigon, it reached No.29 in the UK singles chart.
Frank Carson's use of the word "bloody" is a rare instance of swearing in the series. In a slightly more risqué show than usual, Eddie also makes reference to cannabis (named as "weed") in a routine about Bill and Ben.
