It’s happening. It’s finally happening. What was once a particularly pervasive and aggressive Internet meme is now a reality. HBO Max’s list of new releases for March 2021 is highlighted by none other than the mythical Snyder cut.
The entity now known as Zach Snyder’s Justice League will premiere on March 18. While it was originally planned to be a four-part miniseries, this recut version of 2017’s ill-fated Justice League will in fact be a four-hour movie. But perhaps even four hours won’t be enough for fans who have been waiting years for just such an event.

Wes Studi, Q’orianka Kilcher and Tatanka Means will star in “Canyon Del Muerto,” the new film from writer and director Coerte Voorhees.
The movie is based on the true story of one of America’s first female archaeologists, Ann Axtell Morris, who spent years uncovering civilizations in the southwest and Mexico. Axtell Morris was married to Earl Halstead Morris, who was a primary inspiration for Indiana Jones.
The film also stars David Midthunder, alongside previously announced Abigail Lawrie (who plays Axtell Morris), Tom Felton (as Earl), Ewen Bremner, Bronson Webb, Elias Koteas and Val Kilmer.
“Canyon Del Muerto” is shooting on location across the southwest and the Yucatan thanks to special Covid-19 measures and safety protocols in place. It will also film in archaeological and cultural heritage sites throughout North America and Mexico in collaboration with the Navajo Nation, National Park Service and the government of Yucatan. Earlier today, Empire Magazine had the privilege of revealing the Joker’s final look for “Suicide Squad.” They also simultaneously released a second cover, this one allegedly of Cara Delevingne as Enchantress. I say allegedly because Delevingne’s costume looks like Hutt-Slayer Leia’s metal bikini had a Pig-Pen baby with Red Sonja’s metal bikini. The result is a highly sexualized look that would be at home on any character named Barbarian Princess #3. And precisely nothing like DC’s Enchantress. Image Credit: Empire Magazine I could talk about how dressing Enchantress like this is problematic in that now most of the women in “Suicide Squad” are overtly sexualized. Even Katana doesn’t escape unscathed, her midriff revealed in lieu of her body armor. I could discuss at length how equating sorceresses/witchcraft with sexuality is a hallmark of western society “othering” different cultures. I could mention that even Cara Delevingne...

Rihanna was spotted out getting awfully cozy with a woman on April 19. Is Hollywood's most tangled love triangle about to become a love square? Rihanna loves to shock her fans, but even we didn't see this one coming. On April 19, the Barbarian princess went out for a wild night on the town in Malibu. Her date for the night was Melissa Forde, and by the look of it, they're more than just friends. "I'm on my first date in almost 2 years," the 24-year-old tweeted. The ladies got the party started with dinner at Malibu hotspot Giorgio Baldi, and later headed to the famed Roxbury nightclub in Hollywood, where they partied into the wee hours of the morning. On their way out of the restaurant, they could be seen holding hands. Throughout the night, RiRi kept her 18 million Twitter followers updated on her whereabouts, hinting at a possible romance. Those cheeky Brits always have something up their sleeves, don't they? First they unleash Benedict Cumberbatch as "Sherlock," leave us waiting forever for the next installment and now we'll have to resort to hooking and crooking to get hold of this little number. Sky Movies will premiere their two-part Peter Pan prequel, "Neverland" in July, but Godtopus knows when we'll be able to see it stateside. The made-for-television film is billed as an original story of how the orphaned Pan (Charlie Rowe, Pirate Radio, Never Let Me Go) came to be the Boy Who Never Grew Up. Rhys Ifans stars as the infamous Jimmy Hook, a man who runs a fencing school and "mentors" little Peter and his pickpocketing friends. Transported through a magical portal to Neverland, Peter and company meet up with characters transported from different places and times: Captain Elizabeth Bonny (Friel) and Smee (Bob Hoskins, reprising his...

So far I've collected six separate 2010 compilation videos looking back at the this year's collection of films. To the best of my knowledge, these six videos include clips from 303 films and together they total 34:34. I have included the complete list of films on the second page if you are interested. Let me know if I'm missing any, but I think it's pretty safe to say if you liked a film in 2010 one of these following videos will feature it.
So, have a watch and leave your thoughts on which one is your favorite in the comments below and if you find another one online that I should add to the collection shoot me an email.

Now that we're about two weeks till the end of 2010, the film industry will be looking back to figure out the best movies of the year and will pick winners during the many awards shows. Today, we have a video that captures 2010 pretty well by showing scenes from the year's 270 films, including some that have yet to hit theaters. There will likely be plenty more of these montages in the next few weeks, but the video is definitely one of the better ones that I have seen. Check out the six-minute video below, in addition to a full list of all the films that were used. Questions: How many of the films listed did you actually see in full? Just Wright: "Just Wright is a rarity: An awful movie that I really, really don't want to pan. It'd be like booing a junior-high production of Oklahoma!. Just Wright is hopped up on so much earnestness that my critical faculties have been neutralized. If someone slaved over a stove to make you soufflé, you don't tell them that you hate soufflé and throw it back in their face. You pretend to eat it with a smile on your face while feeding it to the dog under the table. That's how I feel about Just Wright. Only an achingly thin-skinned person could've written this movie (Michael Eliot), and I don't want to hurt his feelings." - Dustin Rowles

Overall it's a pretty jam-packed DVD release day, although you wouldn't know it to look at just the few high profile movies hitting stores today. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is the big one, along with summer snoozers Just Wright starring Queen Latifah and Letters to Juliet starring Amanda Seyfried. Indie releases include Werner Herzog's My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done, Ken Loach's soccer dramedy Looking For Eric, and Thai action film Raging Phoenix. On Blu-ray, there's plenty of genre goodness like The Twilight Zone: Season 1, Return of the Living Dead, and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and a ton of TV releases, including Fringe, Glee, Bored to Death and Tim & Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!. Do you see anything worth buying or renting anything this week? 'Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time'
Jake Gyllenhaal grows out his hair, dons a cod piece, and fights through the sands of time in this video game adaptation. In his review, Joe Utichi noted: "what Bruckheimer does best is deliver entertaining summer adventure for the multiplex masses, even if it does follow a tried and true formula. If it ain't broke, as they say, don't fix it. To that end Prince of Persia is a success; it's never less than a fun twist on sword and sandals epics, and while its band of misfits may not be quite up to Jack Sparrow's standards, they're still plenty to see you through its comfortable runtime." But overall critical reception wasn't kind, so Rent it only if you're interested in some Bruckheimer. On DVD and Blu-ray.

So you might have heard New World and Princess Kaiulani star Q'orianka Kilcher was arrested at the White House on Tuesday during a political protest with her mother Saskia. Awww! Not as cute: Mom was witnessed dumping "a black substance" on the 20-year-old, who was chained to a fence. Now that's bonding. The duo was said to be protesting the visit of Peruvian president Alan Garcia (Kilcher's father is Peruvian); Saskia was charged with defacing government property while Q'orianka was charged with disorderly conduct. New World actress Q'orianka Kilcher was arrested along with her mother at the White House on Tuesday. The 20-year-old Q'orianka, who most recently starred in Princess Kaiulani, had reportedly chained herself to a fence while her mother, Saskia Kilcher, poured "a black substance" all over her. The two were allegedly protesting a visit from Alan Garcia Q'orianka's agent reports that his client is a "strong supporter of indigenous populations around the world." It isn't immediately clear why she was protesting Garcia but Q'orianka's father is a Peruvian Indian. Both the actress and her mother were charged with disorderly conduct while her mother was...

MacGruber (*1/2 out of 4)
If Pixar and its animated output is Hollywood’s safest bet, then full-length features derived from brief “Saturday Night Live” skits have to be the industry’s riskiest gamble. It’s possible you’ll end up with a “Blues Brothers” or a “Wayne’s World,” comedies that extend their single-joke premise and expand the universe for their potentially amusing characters. But more often than not, you’re destined for an unimaginative dud like “The Ladies Man,” “It’s Pat,” “A Night at the Roxbury,” “Superstar” and, now, “MacGruber.” Why do studios continue to green light such projects? Russian roulette players have better survival rates.
The running gag in a “MacGruber” sketch is that the incompetent hero, played by Will Forte as a poor-man’s version of Richard Dean Anderson’s television adventurer MacGuyver, usually explodes right before he does something lewd or ridiculous.

It was a quiet weekend for limited releases, with prior champ Babies remaining at the top despite experiencing a steep fall. Older releases City Island, The Secret in Their Eyes, and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo continued to hold well, while Hawaii-set biopic Princess Kaiulani was the only new release able to make any waves at the box office. Without Mother's Day audiences, Babies dropped a steep 54 percent to $995,660 at 543 locations. Still, this made the documentary the busiest limited release, ranking 12th place overall this weekend. In ten days, Babies has gathered $3.9 million, and is on pace to become one of the Top 20 highest-grossing documentaries ever. City Island fell 28 percent to $442,158 at 253 venues, placing it second among limited releases. Through its ninth weekend, the comedy has earned $3.6 million, an impressive number considering distributor Anchor Bay's previous top grossing movie, 2009's Spread, only made $250,618. The Secret in Their Eyes continued to hold firm again,...

The archer was on target, though less than wholly victorious.
Universal's Russell Crowe starrer "Robin Hood" -- with Cate Blanchett as Maid Marion in Ridley Scott's history-based telling of the well-known legend -- struck the lower edge of pre-release projections with an estimated $37.1 million in opening boxoffice. But comics-spawned sequel "Iron Man 2" from Paramount and Marvel again topped the weekend's domestic rankings with $53 million.
The Robert Downey Jr. starrer dropped a reasonable 59% from its week-earlier opening tally, while boosting cumulative boxoffice to $212.2 million. That compares to a $177.8 million sophomore-session cume for 2008's "Iron Man."
Summit Entertainment's female-targeting "Letters to Juliet," featuring Amanda Seyfried and Vanessa Redgrave, bowed in third place with $13.8 million. And Fox Searchlight's urban-oriented romantic comedy "Just Wright" -- starring Pam Grier, Common and Queen Latifah – debuted in fourth with $8.5 million.
Collectively, the weekend Top 10 rung up $132 million, or 2% more than top performers in the comparable frame last year.

We've got three new movies in wide release this weekend, including Ridley Scott's Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe, the romantic comedy Just Wright starring Common and Queen Latifah, and Letters to Juliet starring Amanda Seyfried (which also sneak previewed last weekend). It's probably going to be tough for any of them to take down Iron Man 2, but at least two of them are aimed at a pretty different audience. Elsewhere in limited release, there is the Ken Loach comedy Looking for Eric, the immigrant drama Entre Nos, and Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo, a documentary about Japan's obsession with insects. What will you be checking out this weekend? Robin Hood [1] Letters to Juliet [2] Just Wright [3] Looking for Eric [4] (limited) Daddy Longlegs [5] (limited) Princess Kaiulani [6] (limited) Entre Nos [7] (limited) Beetle Queen Conquers Tokyo [8] (limited) Deadfall Trail [9] (limited) [1] http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0955308/ [2] http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0892318/ [3] http://www.

Since her controversial casting as Pocahontas in Terrence Malick’s “The New World” at 14 years old, Q’orianka Kilcher’s film career has lain dormant. “Princess Kaiulani” is only her second significant role, and, although her two-and-a-half-page (single-spaced!) bio in the “Princess Kaiulani” press kit delineates her significant artistic and activist achievements, the range she exhibits as an actress in this project appears limited.
Half-Hawaiian, half-Scottish, Princess Ka’iulani is heir to the Hawaiian throne when the island nation is forcibly annexed into the United States. But even before that, her short life is filled with bad news: She is exiled from her homeland when she’s barely a teenager, shipped off to England for her own safety while the royal family fends off a coup orchestrated by Lorrin Thurston (Barry Pepper, playing a clichéd villain) and Sanford Dole (Will Patton, playing a clichéd sympathetic villain). She is teased and...

A major problem with trying to make a romantic drama out of the history of Hawaii’s Princess Ka’iulani is that she died young, with relatively little chance for romance or drama. And while Princess Kaiulani makes do with what story it has, the film feels stretched and straining, full of sleepy scenes and pregnant pauses. It’s as though first-time writer-director Marc Forby is hoping that if he waits long enough, spontaneous action or bodice-ripping passion might suddenly break out, to cut through the staid tone. The New World’s Q’orianka Kilcher stars as Victoria Ka’iulani ...

Designed to be both essential history lesson and costume weeper, Princess Kaiulani comes up short on both fronts: Deadly earnest intentions and lack of dramatic gumption ensure that the story of Hawaii's favored daughter remains under-told. Skimping on detail and narrative depth, the film manages to misuse its embarrassment of natural resources -- beautiful brown people in Victorian garb, for one thing; the tetchy notion that British colonization suited the Hawaiians better than American imperialism did, for another -- in its determination to honor them with a queasy blend of History Channel import and Merchant-Ivory sweep.

Sometimes the screen really is a reflection of real life. This time, the reflection was of Q'orianka Kilcher who plays the Hawaiian Princess Kaiulani in Marc Forby's new film "Princess Kaiulani." It is the story of a young woman who takes a stand to protect the rights of the Hawaiian indigenous people in the late 19th century. In addition to being an incredible actress, Q'orianka is a passionate activist who is an active spokesperson for Peruvian land rights, so the role of the Princess was a perfect fit! On Monday night, her non-profit organization, Q-On-q, hosted an evening of cultural celebration, activism and urgency at the Historic Crest Theater in Los Angeles. The nonprofit organization mission's is to give a voice to the voiceless, especially indigenous peoples, youth advocates and the environment. Nearly six years ago, at the age of 14,...

It’s summer. Hang on, don’t go outside to verify the weather. Just trust me. It’s summer. I should know, I’m a film critic. Sure, if you’re in Chicago you’ll have another couple of days with highs in the 40s. And if you live in Portland, there will be some cloudy days ahead of us, before the secretly perfect summer. If you head to the theater though, its summer blockbuster season thanks to Robert Downey Jr.’s fancy metal suit, Russell Crowe’s bow and arrow, Sarah Jessica Parker’s 58 dresses, Jake Gyllenhaal’s abs and Mike Myers’ ogre. Let’s get started, or as I now like to say thanks to the underwhelming remake of Clash of the Titans … release the kraken!

Check out the poster for Roadside Attractions' "Princess Kaiulani" starring Q'orianka Kilcher, Barry Pepper, Will Patton, Shaun Evans and Jimmy Yuil. Marc Forby directs and writes the drama as well as producing alongside Nigel Thomas, Lauri Apelian, Ric Galindez and Roy Tjioe. Set against the dramatic island backdrop of Hawaii and based on the inspiring true story, "Princess Kaiulani" is a breathtaking romance about an unlikely heroine and her unwavering fight to defend the independence of her people. In 1888, Hawaii was a paradise teetering on the brink of civil unrest. The tide had turned against the long-incumbent royal family, under the malevolent influence of a rebel party with links to the American government. Within months, the Palace was overthrown, and the royals exiled...

It's a wrap! The Martin Gropius Bau is empty and the final pickups follow. This is a work in progress and readers are invited and welcome to contribute. Presales have returned in reaction to the reduced number of finished films on offer over the past two markets. Presales applies across the board from Us to French and even Italian films. English language films are increasingly coming out of the major non English language territories but local product is impacting sales on Us films internationally. Business was quickly wrapped up but it was done with a healthy number of buys reported. Lower prices have become accepted but the market must have product as this event proved.

Roadside Attractions is getting in the aloha spirit, acquiring U.S. rights to the Hawaiian historical biopic "Princess Ka'iulani," written and directed by Marc Forby.
The film, which had its world premiere at the recent Hawaii International Film Festival under the title "Barbarian Princess," stars Q'orianka Kilcher ("The New World") as a princess caught up in the last days of the Hawaiian monarchy who flees to England.
The cast includes Barry Pepper, Shaun Evans and Will Patton.
"Princess" was produced by Island Film Group and Matador Pictures, with Nigel Thomas, Ricardo S. Galindez, Roy J. Tjioe, Lauri Apelian and Forby serving as producers.
Roadside is planning a late-spring release, with Lionsgate handling DVD and other U.S. ancillary markets through Roadside's output deal. Contentfilm International is handling overseas sales.
The deal was brokered by Roadside co-presidents Eric d'Arbeloff and Howard Cohen and Island Film Group founders Tjioe and Galindez on behalf of the filmmakers.

London -- Media rights firm ContentFilm, listed here on the Alternative Investment Market, issued a profit warning Friday, saying that the economic climate is having an impact on its final quarter, which will likely affect full-year 2009 revenue and pretax profit.
"We now expect the FY09 revenue and normalized profit to be lower than market expectations, with revenue being approximately 10%-12% lower than the comparable period in 2008," a statement to the market read.
But Fireworks International, Content's television distribution division, is expected "to produce a positive and solid FY09 result" despite a "general slow down in trading and revenue."
ContentFilm International, the movie sales and distribution business, also will have a disappointing year.
