Throw this one in the trash

Warning: Spoilers
Okay...the title is totally misleading as it implies that this group of people talk for a couple hours about Star Wars. In all honesty there's about 10 minutes of filmed Star Wars discussion. Then, as a true metaphor to current society, these random "fans" go off on personal and political issues that have NOTHING to do with Star Wars. Seriously, Star Wars fans stay away from this steaming pile of fecal matter. Unless you like reality television, in which case a lot can be said. To give this film a half a star, I will point out that a Fundamentalist Christian gets choked. I give the kid 10 points for style (in that he not only read my thoughts and everyone else's at the table) in that he didn't know how to use the Force...yet he still chokes this babbling idiot because the Christian can't keep his judgmental mouth shut for 10 minutes. Seriously, ditch this garbage.

Watched again, good movie

The Audience Strikes Back" is like a low-key deep dive into the Star Wars universe, but with a twist. It's not just about the iconic saga; it's a convo that spirals into all the real stuff-life, love, and yeah, even politics. It's got this raw, unfiltered vibe that's kinda refreshing.

The cast? They're like your squad's group chat come to life, super relatable. And the dialogue? It's like they're speaking our language, no cap. It's not your typical film, it's more like a hangout session where everyone's just being real.

If you're down for something that's not trying to be another blockbuster and you're cool with just vibing to some honest talk, this might just be your jam. It's a whole mood, and sometimes, that's just what you need-a movie that feels like a chill night in with friends. 🌌✨ So, if you're up for a different kind of Star Wars experience, give it a go. It's low-key a good time. #KeepItReal #StarWarsFeels.

A Star Wars discussion that leads back to Planet Earth
SpaceTimeWorx5 March 2024
"The Audience Strikes Back" is a captivating exploration of human dynamics, fueled by passionate discussions and diverse viewpoints. Director Patrick Beacham masterfully weaves together the lives of eight individuals brought together by their shared love for Star Wars.

The film's strength lies in its unapologetic portrayal of raw opinions. As the diverse characters gather for what seems like a friendly discussion, they unleash their thoughts on topics ranging from Christian fundamentalism to gay marriage and the war in Iraq. Each viewpoint is a brushstroke on the canvas of this intense evening.

The ensemble cast delivers powerful performances. Their chemistry crackles, and you can almost feel the tension in the room. The dialogue is sharp, thought-provoking, and occasionally humorous. The film doesn't shy away from uncomfortable truths, and that's where its brilliance lies.

And then the unexpected happens that leaves the audience stunned. It's a reminder that beneath our seemingly civil conversations, emotions simmer, ideologies clash, and sometimes, words fail us.

"The Audience Strikes Back" invites introspection. It challenges us to listen, empathize, and engage with differing perspectives. It's a film that lingers, urging us to question our own beliefs and biases.

In a world where echo chambers thrive, this movie is a breath of fresh air. It encourages dialogue, even when it's uncomfortable. It reminds us that understanding doesn't always lead to agreement, but it's a step toward a more compassionate society.

So, grab your popcorn, settle in, and let the opinions fly. "The Audience Strikes Back" is a cinematic rollercoaster that leaves you pondering long after the credits roll.

Note: While the film may not have a large following, its impact is undeniable. It's a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.

Good film worth viewing

I'm not sure what the previous reviewer was expecting but I can't think of anything more boring than 90 minutes of Star Wars - and nothing else. What I liked about the film was the way it took the themes from Star Wars and used them to address all the critical issues of the day that divide us as a nation. I thought the fundamentalist character was well acted and scripted and was treated very fairly. it reminded me - in a good way - of the way "12 Angry Men" addressed the social issues of it's day.

I do think the acting was uneven, but the script was original and thoughtful and the treatment was interesting. This was all done on a tiny independent (really independent) budget with a first time director. So maybe my expectations were lower, but I was impressed with the final balance achieved between entertainment and social commentary.

In these days where movies endlessly rehash the same things, remakes, Lethal Weapon 16, and other "sure-fire" titles, it's refreshing to see a film that provides one person's unique view of what has been creating this red state/blue state nightmare of the past 8 years. I'd love to see what this creative team could do with a bigger budget and some marketing power behind them.

A SNAPSHOT IN TIME

Lovely and unusual effort even though actors as well as real people (interviewed outside the theater) were used. Has become historical in some ways with footage of Seattle's Cinerama Theater in 2005 which is now "is closed for the foreseeable future" but was owned by Microsoft's Paul Allen and had been restored to it's previous glory. Challenging themes are brought up in THE AUDIENCE STRIKES BACK and the film should be recognized for this. It's not a dumbed down fan film with simple objectives.

Speaking of dumbing down, I really must call into question one or two of this film's earlier reviews. They are completely without insight or value and are simply a manifestation of our "hater" society. Please don't be affected by this gibberish.

Update: the Cinerama Theater has been purchased and will be re-opened under new management.
