- A year into their mission with the children of the Resolute, Judy, Penny and Will scramble to find the titanium they need to get to Alpha Centauri.
- While the children, stranded on a planet, try to gather the titanium they need to fix their lander's engines, the parents try to avoid the robots, build a station with the Jupiters to find their children, and deal with the enormity of their loss.—Gislef
- Penny spacewalks through a 20-year abandoned Fortuna, while Will and Judy monitor her vitals from a lander. On the ship, Penny confirms that the lander is missing, which in an emergency it would have launched the crew and their cyrotubes. She goes to the bridge to try and determine where they went, and turns on the power. Penny powers up the Fortuna and pinpoint the lander's radio signal on the nearby planet, and a corpse in a spacesuit drifts through the zero-g and bumps into her back. Penny confirms that is' Carson, the payload specialist, and goes back to work. She checks the ship's monitors and finds the crew in their cyrotubes,
A large asteroid comes toward the lander. The computer system aboard the lander activates the landing via autopilot via the computer, and locks out Will from control. Penny fails to get the coordinates and tells her siblings that she's on her way, while Judy tells Vijay to prepare everyone for landing. Penny jumps over from the Fortuna to the lander just in time, and Judy pulls her in, much to Penny's surprise that Judy is on the lander. On the Fortuna, an alien moves among the tubes.
349 Days Later
Will wakes up gasping from a nightmare, and sees the Robot watching over him instead of on watch. Leaving the lander, Will looks briefly at the planet they've landed on and Judy and Penny join him from the nearby camp they've set up. As the rest of the camp comes to life, Judy files a captain's log for her parents that the planet died a long time ago, and they landed in a valley where there's enough power to survive. Falling meteors continue, and they monitor the skies day and night. Smith is teaching classes, and everyone wonders if they're going to make it to Alpha Centauri. They're mining titanium to repair the engines, but have only reached 72% of what they need. Will is supervising efforts, and hasn't had a good night's sleep in months but doesn't talk to anyone about it. Judy figures Penny is mad at her for something, and the Robot is searching for its purpose and so is Judy.
Robot and Judy said up a rocket to try and make contact with the Fortuna crew somewhere on the planet. The rocket doesn't make it out of the valley.
On an unnamed rainforest planet in the danger system, John makes a log about how the robot patrols don't know he and the others are there. They're searching for wreckage from the Resolute and the supplies they need. John tells the rest of his search team to keep a low profile and avoid the robots, but a patrol comes by and spots them. The robots kill one member of the search team who fails to hide successfully.
Penny talks to one of the other children, Liam Tufeld, and admits that she stopped writing her book in the middle. She says that she use to care about things too much, and he asks if she thinks they're parents are okay. Penny says that she doesn't like to think about it and lives in the moment, and Liam tells her that's what he like about. With that, they kiss.
Will and Robot forge more titanium, and Smith comes in and asks what's taking so long. She notes that people are less excited about being stuck there, and will tells Smith stop bothering him, and it won't make things go any faster. She offers any help that doesn't involve hard work and leaves.
Later, Will is on the bridge playing his guitar. A meteor comes up on the sensors, and Will sounds the alarm for everyone to take cover in the bunker. Will notices that Penny is missing, and the meteor burns up in the atmosphere.. Judy gives the all-clear, and Vijay sees Penny coming back hand-in-hand. Penny quickly releases Liam's hand so no one sees them together. Judy goes to Penny and tells her that she's seeing a bad example. Penny says that she's not setting an example of anything, Penny warns that one time a meteor might not burn up in the atmosphere and walks off.
Vijay tells Will and Judy that the pieces of the asteroid from the collision a year ago are congregating in orbit, and soon the ship's computer won't be able to navigate them through it. They only have four or five more days, and Will says that he could rebuild the engine in four hours if he had enough titanium. Judy gathers the other and says they detected a vein of titanium two miles up, but Robot can't get it because the spire won't support his weight. Vijay warns that a cataclysm ripped away most of the planet's atmosphere, and as they go higher there's less atmosphere. Well, more than one thing is happening. Judy figures they'll need their spacesuits at some point, and they'll only have one chance to succeed.
Robot tells Will that there's danger and it wants to help, and Will says that he knows it wants to help but it can't. Judy talks to Penny privately, and Penny says that when they've made it through harder spots in the past, it's been with their parents' help.
At sunshine base in the danger system, near the sun, John returns and finds the other parents discussing how they've hidden in the sun's coronasphere and now they can focus on finding their children. Victor explains that they need one of the robots' engines to get to Alpha Centauri, and the engine can only be operated by a robot. John says that the robots don't hate or like them, but have only cared about Will and Will isn't there. He says that if they take something that belongs to the robots, they hit back hard. John doesn't know how to take an engine safely. Victor points out that Maureen isn't there, and John tells him that he'll have to discuss with her why she isn't there.
Don checks the repair work putting together the Jupiters into the base, and discovers no one likes him for giving orders. Maureen is there working, and tells Don that she needs him to sign off on her work. He does and says that he needs her on ground work, and Maureen refuses and says that she's needed there. When Don says that John is back, Maureen coolly thanks him for letting her know.
A tech tells John to clear out the cabins on John's Jupiter so the work can proceed. After looking into Will's cabin, John goes to the hub and writes on the white board for Maureen that he's back. She's not there.
Judy leads the others to the spire and they start climbing. Will finds termite-like alien creatures boring into the rock, boring holes. Robot watches from below, and Smith joins it and says that Will isn't the same as he was. She says that Will is hiding something, and tells Robot to tell her what it knows, for all their sakes. Robot remains silent, and Smith walks off.
That night, the expedition makes camp on the rock face. Will wakes up from a nightmare and Vijay asks if he's okay. He asks if Penny ever talks about him, and Will says that he and Penny haven't been talking much. Vijay wishes things were the way they used to be, and Will agrees.
Maureen comes to the hub and finds John there. John says that they want them to clear out the kids' rooms, and she says she needs to go to sleep because she has another shift. Her husband insists that there are things they need to take care of, and ask what she's doing. Maureen says that she's keeping everything running, and John points that they're in it together. When Maureen says that she used to be a mother and now she has nothing, John tells her that she has him. Maureen says that she's sorry and goes to her cabin.
The next morning, the expedition put on their space suits and continue climbing. Vijay refuses Liam's help, but then falls into the mist. His line saves him, and Judy goes down after him and confirms that Vijay's wrist is fractured. Penny looks down, frightened for Vijay, and Liam notices.
Back at the camp, Smith sneaks into Will's quarters and goes through his papers.
After Liam takes Vijay down to the camp, Judy and her siblings mine the vein for titanium, and an updraft blows a loose rock up. They stop briefly to admire a waterfall, and then Judy puts the others back to work. That night they set up tents, and Penny finds a radio receiver that Judy has among her equipment. Will figures that his older sister thinks they may be high enough to pick up a signal from the Fortuna lander, and her siblings figures she's looking for her father, Kelly. Penny figures Judy is going to leave them there now that they have enough titanium, and accuses Judy of looking for a new family.
Before Judy can respond, the termites start crawling over the tent. The rock beneath the tent crumbles, and the siblings put their helmets on and discover the termites are eating the pillar out from under them. Penny asks Will what they should do, and he says that they'll ride the updraft up and "fly". Penny is skeptical, and Judy and Will make makeshift glider suits out of the tents and tape them to their suits. They jump over the edge together, holding hands, and the updraft takes them up as the spire crumbles below them. When they reach the bags of titanium they've mined, they release hands and land on the ledge Penny and Judy hug in relief, and Penny gives Judy the transmitter that she grabbed below she fell. Judy doesn't want it, but Penny says that John isn't there, and she' been mad at Judy for the last year, thinking she's the reason they had to leave. They left that they left because Judy was looking out for Penny, and Penny says that no one has looked out for her like Judy has. Judy tells her sister that's what family does, and Penny and Will tell Judy to go look for her father while they go back to camp with the titanium. With that, Judy starts climbing up.
Will and Penny return to camp the next morning, and Will files an "acting captain report" with Penny interjecting as the co-captain. Later, smith confronts Will and tells him she knows that he knows he didn't need the titanium. Much of the titanium ore "disappeared", and she asks why Will doesn't want to leave. Will says that the robots are looking for him, and know his name. He asks Smith to keep it a secret, and she says she's good at keeping secrets and leaves.
Robot stands watch on a cliff. Will joins it and says that someone has been messing with the ore they need to fix the engine and leave the planet, and Smith thinks that it's him. Will figures that Robot did it and says as much. Robot remembers dumping the titanium into a lake, and Will wonders why it would do that. It says "Help Will Robinson", and Will figures Robot thought didn't want to face what was off the planet. Will says that he's not a kid anymore, and the only way to put an end to it is to face the danger. Once everyone gets to Alpha Centauri, Will and Robot have to leave the others rather than put them at risk from the robots. Will tells Robot that if it really wants to help him, it has to trust him. Robot says "Trust, Will Robinson", and looks at him.
Maureen passes Will's cabin and sees John studying their son's baseball that he's packing away with Will's other things. She goes in and tells John that he shouldn't have to do it on his own. John sits down next to Maureen and says that he still expects to see their children in the hub when he goes there, and that feeling has never gone away. Maureen tells John that she tries not to think about them, because when she does she wonders if there's something else she could have done to keep them all together. John takes Maureen's hand.
At the children's camp, a boy plays the guitar. Will looks up at the spire.
Judy climbs up the spire and uses the transmitter, trying to get a signal from the Fortuna.
Penny lies with her head on Liam's shoulder.
Maureen and John lie in bed, and Maureen strokes her husband's face, then leaves over and kisses him.
Judy reaches the top and gets a signal.
John wakes up alone and goes to the hub. There's a message on the white board from Maureen, with a "to do" of finding their children. Maureen comes in wearing a spaceship.
Robot is still standing watch, and sees a group of objects come through the atmosphere and crash nearby. It goes to investigate and finds strange patterns in the ground.
