The Best of Smallville is the title of the fifth episode that is directed by the Arrowverse veteran, Rachel Talalay.
The episode continues the character and story arcs that we have seen, and this week's episode delivers some of the best moments of Superman and Lois.
Some things to remember from the previous episodes is the reveal of Captain Luthor being from another earth and that he confronted Sam Lane which was his best friend back on his earth, the other villain being Morgan Edge and how his secretary is Leslie Larr who has the same powers as Clark Kent. In the previous episode we found out the reason why Morgan Edge is in Smallville, for X-Kryptonite and it gives people powers.
But the episode has the Kent family prepare for the annual Harvest Fest, there's some great performances throughout the episode, and the most important thing is how real the performances feel. Amazing character portrayals.
This could possibly be the best episode since the pilot episode, it has everything a Superman show needs to have and they have successfully done it. The quality of the writing haven't decreased, it's been the same but this episode truly went above the previous quality, from the story to the dialogue everything is just perfect. With this episode, Superman and Lois have proved itself to be one of the best Arrowverse shows, and might possibly be the best. I can't wait for the show to come back, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.
