Midseason is the new fall.
As Hollywood and the broader industry continue to recover from the debilitating dual actors and writers strikes, the 2024 television landscape is coming into focus. All of the broadcast networks have set return dates for most of their shows, with the postponed Emmy Awards now set for January 15 and no usual Premiere Week to speak of.
But as series return to production with lower episode counts this truncated season, here again is Deadline’s annual list of premiere dates for new and returning TV series.
The roster covers hundreds of broadcast, cable and streaming programs debuting through 2024, with many listed as Tba as the year kicks off. It includes series and season debuts, shows returning from hiatus and some one-offs such as live sports and awards specials but not movies. The list includes shows that are in limbo for now but are likely to get premiere dates in the coming months.

Max’s first full month without ‘HBO’ in its rebranded title has a selection that kicks off summer 2023 in fine fashion. Three of the four iterations of “A Star Is Born,” including the most recent remake starring Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga, are streaming on Max in June. The 1954 and 1976 films land June 1, while the 2018 version arrives June 8.
To prepare for Margot Robbie’s performance in “Barbie” come July, one could watch one of her more intense roles as Tonya Harding in “I, Tonya” (2017). For some lighter summer watches, viewers might consider “Dolphin Tale” (2010), “Grease” (1978), “Hairspray” (2007) or “Tooth Fairy” (2010).
“Magic Mike’s Last Dance” (2023) starring Channing Tatum and Salma Hayek Pinault lands at Max after its theatrical release in February this year. Another major theatrical release from 2022, “Avatar: The Way of Water” (2022), swims onto the streamer starting June 7.

HBO Max is no more. In its place are…HBO and Max. Warner Bros. Discovery’s big change to its premier streaming service was simply to take the “HBO” off of the name “HBO Max,” leaving just “Max.” But in announcing its list of new releases for Max in June 2023, Warner is highlighting all of the HBO content anyway. So here is everything you can expect to find on Max (including every new HBO show) this month.
Even though June 2023 is the first full month of Max’s existence without the helpful “HBO” modifier in front of it, literally all of its major original offerings are thanks to the pay cable network. June 4 sees the premiere of The Idol, the controversial TV project starring The Weeknd and written by Euphoria‘s Sam Levinson. After that, season 3 of Danny McBride evangelical comedy The Righteous Gemstones premieres on June 18. That will be...

Production in Los Angeles sharply declined to end 2022 as Hollywood slowed its recovery from Covid-19.
But data recorded for the full year reflected that filming returned to pre-pandemic levels in 2019, which was a year of significant production decline.
“Can we hold here, or will the pre-covid downtrend resume?” said FilmLA President Paul Audley. “That is the question everyone is asking.”
The quarter that ended in December saw 8,674 shoot days, according to film permit office Film LA. The figure represents a 19.5 percent dropoff from the same period last year, although the fourth quarter of 2021 set an all-time quarterly record due to a backlog of productions stalled by the pandemic.
The data incorporates shooting days for feature films, television, commercials in addition to music videos, student films and documentaries.
There were 36,792 total shoot days in 2022. The tally marks a 2.4 percent decline over 2021 and 0.7 percent increase over the last pre-pandemic year in 2019.

On-location filming in Los Angeles fell by 2.4 in 2022 compared to the prior year, with feature film and television shoot days down 9.6, TV pilots plummeting 71.9 and commercial shoot days falling 22.6, according to the latest report from FilmLA, the city and county film permit office.
Last year had been shaping up to be a good one for local filming, but production fell off sharply in the third quarter and again in the fourth – down 19.5 compared to Q4 2021. Even so, on-location shoot-days continue to hold steady at not-so-great pre-pandemic levels.
“The return of pre-pandemic filming levels places us roughly where we were in 2019, which was itself a year of significant production decline,” said FilmLA president Paul Audley. “Can we hold here, or will the pre-Covid downtrend resume? That is the question everyone is asking.”
The only bright spots in the report were for TV reality shows, which were up 5.2, and the category of “Other,...

Drew and Jonathan Scott, the siblings better known as HGTV’s “Property Brothers,” have built, rebuilt, renovated, redesigned and reimagined hundreds of spaces since their TV careers took off in 2011.
But the property they’re most proud to have built is their own Scott Brothers Global empire. The company, based in Los Angeles, is home to a bustling production entity, Scott Brothers Entertainment, as well as retail and e-commerce home-furnishing product lines that seemingly go on forever. The 44-year-old identical twins from Vancouver have become towering figures in the world of lifestyle media — and not just because Jonathan is 6 feet 5 inches tall and Drew, 6-foot-4. The pair...
